We've had this model for over three years. It was meant to replace a microwave I set a large fire in and also was meant as a way to avoid cleaning a nasty conventional oven the previous homeowners left for us.
The Sharp Grill 2 is a beast! I can throw a five pound pork roast at it and the roast will come out perfect in 45 min. "Roast 375°" has become my best friend. I put breakfast sausage links (a whole pack straight from the freezer in 12-20 min.), chicken (cut-up), country style ribs, chuck/pork roasts, etc. in my oval casserole baking dish with a tight fitting glass cover... set it... and forget it. Just amazing. Baked potatoes under 15 minutes? No problem. Pizza? Yes. Defrost a mountain of ground beef? Easy-peasy. Do you have to read the manual? Of course! But that's because this beautiful little machine packs so many functions!
With two kids under three, more often than not I'll forget to take meats out of the freezer to defrost. I throw frozen meat right in the casserole dish, lather with bbq sauce or soy/garlic powder/black pepper, "Roast 375° 45min.", and dinner's ready to go. If you leave the door closed when the oven beeps, the meats will keep warm for up to a good half hour.

Love this product!! Got it after a powersurge in our area blew out my kitchen, I was left with a only a gas stovetop. While I was waiting for the insurance and new appliances, I got this hoping for a microwave and maybe some convection. This oven was a super surprise not only is it a great microwave it actually grills, bakes, roasts, and reheats like a dream, and faster than my conventional oven. When you put a roast in this oven (yes I said a roast and I mean of beef, pork or a chicken even have done a turkey breast) you put it directly on the great Metal rack that comes with the oven. The roasted piece of meat comes out crisp on the outside juicy inside and soooo quick.
You can even microwave stuff sitting on the metal rack, crazy but it works perfectly, no sparks or anything!!
Cleaning this is a breeze too!! The turntable come right out as well as the pedestal it sits on. Both are metal and can go in the dishwasher if you want, After you take those out there is nothing in the oven but a lower range element like in a electric oven and that flips up and out of the way so you can wipe right under it. The entire inside is shiny metal which cleans up with a sponge no scrubbing just wipe away and its clean.
I was so surprised by how great this works and would buy it over and over.

We rent and when I broke the GE Profile microwave and convection oven we decided to replace it ourselves instead of bothering the landlord because it was my fault. Looked everywhere for the correct dimentions because it's kind of a built in. Everything was very, very expensive with the micro/convec combo and then we came across the Sharp. How could something $400 cheaper be as good as the original? (2004)
Well, it is and more so.
It grills.
It toasts perfectly.
The convection oven is quicker to heat up and does a better job than the GE. The only thing I didn't like was the corn muffins...they looked more like popovers.
The microwave is quicker but it's less powerful by 10 watts. Figure that one out?
It's very easy to use, comes with a cheat sheet page that is so convenient...no thumbing through the book looking for how to use the grill for instance. I usually can't do a thing and have to call my husband for help. Not with this one.
It has less room height wise but that hasn't been an issue at all.
So I guess I've been proven wrong....cheaper is not necessarily cheap.
If you're looking for even a microwave....try this product.....I guarantee you'll use it more than you think.

This Sharp Micro/Convection oven is worth every dollar of the price you will pay. Quality: Excellent! I use the Convection feature as my oven all summer long because is does not heat up my kitchen as my normal range/oven will do. The Convection feature will roast any chicken, beef, pork beautifully. It will bake casseroles,pies and cakes to perfection. As I have an electric range, using this little oven is also a cost savings feature for it does not use as much electric. It is great around the holidays for an extra oven when you are cooking for "the crowd". The Microwave function is a little less powerful as my older micro, but it does not create a problem for me. I find by adding an extra few seconds to recipes it works just fine. I cook veggies, reheat, defrost, etc. with the micro funcion. I find most people do not realize the wonders of the Micro/Convection oven. People ask me how I cooked the chicken in the micro? LOL I like these ovens much better than toaster ovens! This oven comes with many features....Probably more than I will use. I doubt if I want to broil a steak as I do mine on the grill. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase! I saved hundreds of dollars by purchasing this product through Amazon.... Most ovens like this cost between $400-500. A++++++Customer Review: Cooking perfection with one caveat

I love this machine. I am not a cook perse, just a single dad trying to do everything myself. My microwave was my life saver until one day when the lights went out and fried it. Searching for a replacement, I liked the many options for no brains cooking and decided that if I was going to replace my microwave, why not try something better than average.
I am really glad that I did. This thing seems to do a perfect job on just about everything that I put in it. The kids and I have made apple pies, pizza, bannana bread and just about everything that I throw at it comes out perfect.
There was one thing that I didn't like... I couldn't get popcorn to come out right with this unit. That was UNTIL I realized that I needed to put in the wire rack to center the popcorn. How many bags I have ruined before realizing that I needed the rack. Since then I haven't burnt one which is a great releif to my kids on movie night.
I rarely write product reviews, but since I have pretty much stopped using the normal oven in exchange for this unit, I thought it was worth mentioning. I don't know if it takes less energy, but it does cut down cooking time dramatically so I can spend more time with the kids.
