Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sharp R-305KS 1-Cubic-Foot 1100-Watt Microwave Oven, StainlessCustomer Review: Works well, no problems Summary: 4 Stars
We have had this for a year, give or take, and have not had a problem yet. With that in mind it is a microwave. My last one lasted 10 years or more. I expect this one to as well. it seems sturdy, it cooks well. It is not too powerful (yes this is possible) so most things that say cook for 1 min actually do take 1 minute.
We do not use this as much as other appliances but when we do we are confident it will work. It is easy to clean too. Easy to use, easy to set the clock, easy to open, etc. It fits all the dishes we use in the microwave. It is bigger inside than the one it replaced, but that was 10+ years old so I would hope this one has more internal room. It has the same external dimensions as the old one, give or take.
It works, enough said about that.
Customer Review: My adivice? AVOID this one. Summary: 1 Stars
Bought this based on excellent reviews here, and it DOES cook well, WHILE it works.
Got it in Dec. of 2008, used SPARINGLY....it stopped heating last night.
Ran like normal, but made a funky smell, and wouldn't heat.
I'm out of the standard warranty (1 year), but the magnetron is still covered.
This is PROBABLY the magnetron (part that actually heats the food),
but may also be other parts. I researched this, and people are not happy with
Sharp's service, ie, needing to carry it in, often hundreds of miles away.
PLUS, labor is NOT covered, so I could easily spend as much as a new unit.
Prior to the Sharp,I had a Panasonic given to me, that was probably 20 years old, never a hiccup,
Two thumbs down to Sharp!
Customer Review: great - if this is what one needs. It is for me Summary: 4 Stars
I had another brand which did magnificently for 12 years. I couldn't find one similar in the same brand, so went to the Sharp. It is the size that a couple almost 80 years old can use best. We do little cooking in the microwave - more reheating coffee, or warming up food that has already been cooked on the stove. Oh, it does cook our oatmeal daily - generally 3 min at 50% power. Price was right, and shipping was included. Why not 5 stars? -- we prefer the door with a handle like our previous microwave had. For those who prefer "push" over "pull" - it is a 5 star.Sharp R-305KS 1-Cubic-Foot 1100-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless
Customer Review: MY THIRD SHARP MICROWAVE Summary: 1 Stars
This is the third Sharp microwave Sharp R-305KS 1-Cubic-Foot 1100-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless I have owned. The other two lasted about ten years each. That should speak for itself. However it does not. After ten months of use the oven just stopped working. By that I mean STOPPED period. I called Sharp and they were totally not interested in helping me. They did refer me to a service center for repair but as I am a senior citizen and unable to drive and unable to lift the unit and carry it on a bus;there was nothing I could do. So if anyone wants a 45 pound pile of junk and can make their way to Houston it is yours.
Customer Review: Does what it's suppose to Summary: 4 Stars
I needed to replace my GE Overrange Microwave (which magnatron broke after only three yrs) and decided with so many bad reviews of the more expensive brands to go ahead and try the Sharp R-305KS. So far, so good! It fits my countertop and looks really nice. I find it easy to use. The only thing in comparison to the GE model is that it takes a little longer to cook food thoroughly and sometimes there are uneven areas (but I haven't used a microwave that cooks food perfectly even anyway). As long as this microwave outlasts my GE (which now serves as a breadbox) I'll be happy. I'll be happier anyway just because I didn't have to spend a fortune on this one!
