I've had a top-of-the-line 1200 Watt Panasonic microwave with a 16"+ turn table for about 3 years. After a while the door started sticking, then a piece of the metal on the front chipped and started sparking a bit at times. A few days ago, out of nowhere, the microwaved BZZZZZZED at me and white smoke came pouring out. Dead.
After reading a bunch of reviews about the current Panasonic 1200 Watt nuckers, I realized that the quality issues have still not been fixed. So, I decided to go to the other end of the spectrum and picked up this little 800 Watt Sharp.
I am very impressed with the quality of this microwave, especially at this price. It is small and light, yet cooks everything as expected with little fuss and little noise. The door pops open like it wants to kill me, which is a very nice change from the Panasonic.

We have had this microwave about a month and it replaced a Sharp 1100 watt microwave that we used for 10 years. The old one is still working for our son.
This unit is quite a bit smaller and has less power than the one that we replaced. It does work well and is quieter than the old one. The only adjustment for us is the smaller size and less power. It is fine for our needs of reheating and steaming vegetables. It easily holds a large dinner plate size dish. It has worked very well and the controls are fairly similar to the other Sharp that we had before, so there is very little adjustment in understanding the cooking levels and features. It just takes longer to cook stuff!
Hope that this one lasts as long as the other two Sharp microwave ovens that we have owned for the past 24 years of marriage!

I bought this Microwave to replace an older Sharp model. I have had very good luck with Sharp Microwaves and this new one is no different. It's a very good compact microwave for one or two people. It was very easy to set the clock and use right out of the box. I love the look of it. The buttons are very simple to use. I don't use my microwave for cooking that much, I use it mostly for reheating and defrosting. I am a single mom with one teenage son who never eats at the same time as I do so it comes in very handy. I do sometimes cook bacon and pototoes in it. It makes great baked potatoes. It you have more than two people in your family you might want to get a larger oven. I have been using Sharp microwaves for many, many years, they make a great product. I highly recommend this model and all Sharps for that matter.Customer Review: Great Item

If you need a medium/compact microwave oven do yourself a favor
and buy this oven! Simply put, it works beautifully, does everything
you need, it is very reasonably priced and it looks great!
The only minor negative which I have seen posted (and which does have
some validity) is the fact that the Start and Stop buttons are more
or less hidden in the middle of all of the other buttons. Why Sharp
did this is beyond me because they simply could have made those two
buttons larger and more prominent. Even this can be remedied very
easily by pointing a small stcker toward each of the two buttons (as
I did.) With everything else this oven has going for it, this item
is not worth fussing about. Buy it and you will love it!

After I received my first microwave, I noticed that it had a dent on the side and the metal puckered in the back a bit. I wasn't sure whether or not to return it, but finally decided to do so. Amazon was FANTASTIC about the return. The microwave they sent to replace it was double-boxed which was, frankly, very considerate! I received it in good condition and I love the microwave. The size is just right and it functions well. I'm going to take the advice that a previous reviewer gave and keep the door open for a short while after using to let it cool off and personally, I appreciate that the clock isn't bright. The microwave is roomy inside but created more counter space in my tiny kitchen. I'm very satisfied with the product and would definitely recommend it to others.
