Customer Review: Not enough oomph

I'd like to point out that this review is by a mere man. And when it comes to things of the kitchen my opinion doesn't count for much. I thought this microwave oven was just fine. I threw away the packaging in a fit of tidiness and confidence. I tried it out. It worked. What could possibly be wrong? We have had it now for three weeks and my wife has not stopped complaining. I didn't know that one could get so worked up about a microwave oven.
True, without my glasses I can't see which button to press. Yes, it does take longer to cook anything than our last microwave oven. And when I stumble, bleary eyed, into the kitchen in the middle of the night I have no idea what time it is because the clock doesn't light up.
Surely, patience is a virtue. Do we need to be in so much of a rush? Does one minute here, or two minutes there really make much difference? I can live with it. My wife can't. I don't think I can send it back without packaging if you want to know the truth. We are now into week three of being owners of this appliance, and my wife has not exhausted her ire against it. I feel my resolve on hanging onto it weakening. Women (who have strong opinions about these things) usually know best. I expect we'll have to get a something else with more oomph. Then once again, domestic bliss will reign in the kitchen.

Works great after 5 years of use. I mainly use it for heating up left overs, warming up coffee or muffins, cooking baked potatoes rice and cooking frozen vegetables. I have also used it for melting butter, softening cream cheese, melting chocolate, cheese, and making nachos. It has plenty of button options, listed from top left to the bottom are, popcorn, defrost, then the numbered buttons 1-9 and zero, then it has a power level button which goes from 10% to 100% in increments of 10, I use this only for cooking rice. Then there is a timer/clock button which is used to set the correct time, and you can use it as a timer when not in use, which I find very handy. Then there is a stop/clear button, and a start/minute plus. Last but not least, is the short cuts buttons, melt/soften/warm, those are great for butter, cream cheese, and heating a cup of coffee. It also has a carousel that spins so you don't need to turn your plate, or bowl while cooking, and is removable for easy cleaning. I can fit a regular sized dinner plate on the carousel. I really have no complaints about this microwave, I like the black color, it looks classy and elegant, not cheap at all but very affordable. Hopefully it will last 15 more years, that would be nice. bottom line, if you're looking for a small microwave with lots of features, then I would highly recommend this microwave.Customer Review: ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER

Chose this one specifically to fit on shelf above sink. But FIRST had to mount it on piece of 2x4 because when I installed new sink faucet the open microwave door hit it. THEN had to paint the edges of 2x4 black to blend in. NEXT had to make grooves for the microwave feet to "lock on" the 2x4. FINALLY had to put a small piece of non-skid material (had to cut it out from under my new carpet) so that the 2x4 stopped slipping every time I opened the microwave door. Because the buttons are difficult not only to locate but see, I had to install a spotlight on my ceiling. This helps greatly but of course it highlighted the dingy area behind the stove. I ordered this microwave because of all the great reviews. It came yesterday and unfortunately I had to send it right back. The turntable made a horrible grinding noise anytime you used it. The lighter the item I was cooking, the quieter the noise, but it was just too much to put up with.
I also noticed that the packing styrofoam pieces were broken and some were even missing. It made me wonder if someone had already returned it.
Even if I got a dud or a return, I didn't like how far the attachment part of the power plug sticks out the back. It makes it impossible to put the microwave evenly against a wall. Since you must push a button inwards to open the microwave door, each time you do the microwave scoots a little because it's not fully against the wall. So I know I'd always be straightening it. Also, the start button is mixed in with all the other buttons and looks exactly like them, so it's a search to find it each time.
But, it did cook the food well. And I must say that Amazon was very good about letting me just ship it back postage free for a full refund. Amazon is the best!

My microwave arrived today - it was the Sharp R model. Arrived very quickly and I was thrilled with the speedy shipping. I can always count on Amazon for quick delivery.
You can imagine my disappointment when the microwave door wouldn't open no matter what we did. The booklet was inside the microwave so we had to pry the door with a knife to see what we were doing wrong. As it turned out I called Sharp and they gave me some names to call for a repair. The 1st place I called said they would need the microwave for a week, the second couldn't be sure how long it would be away from here. Finally I called the third place in Franklin, MA and we brought it to them. When we got inside the repair person met us with a rolling cart, brought the item in the back and within 10 minutes had it fixed. It was just a missing part. So now the microwave is in my kitchen and I tried it as soon as I arrived home and it works perfectly. Great size, lots of power.
Happy with purchase - this was the first thing I bought from Amazon that even had a hint of a problem.
