Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sharp R-216LS Compact Size 0.8 Cu-Foot Microwave, Stainless SteelCustomer Review: Simple, inexpensive, looks sharp Summary: 4 Stars
Given all the negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised this compact Sharp MW lived up to its specs (at least during the first week of use). Simple to set up, easy to operate, and only one glaring minor defect: the audible signal at the end of the cooking cycle is so weak you will not hear it unless you're standing next to the unit. The strong points are obvious for anyone who is not a professional chef and doesn't have an Olympic-size kitchen. It's small, efficient, easy to use, good looking, and a great value.
Customer Review: Defective...poor product Summary: 1 Stars
I only need a microwave to reheat, bake potatoes, make popcorn. When I try to do a manual operation it adds minutes. I put an item in for 1 minute 20 seconds. It continued to add minutes until I stopped it at 20 minutes. I unpluggged it, restarted it a dozen times. The programming is obviously really messed up. It is dangerous. I hate it.
I called Sharp and they asked me for a phone number so that I could take it to a service center. Would I order online if I had the time to go to a service center???
Customer Review: Almost Perfect Summary: 4 Stars
This is a fine microwave, quieter than many and good looking as well. The food really cooks evenly, and the defrost setting seems quite smart. The turntable is well made and the unit removes easily for washing. Pressing the start button alone gives you one minute at high. For me the size of the unit is perfect. My only caveat is the light, which works fine when the oven is running, but not when the oven is stopped and the door is opened. Still, I would buy this microwave again.
Customer Review: Solid, stylish microwave Summary: 4 Stars
We got this microwave for our office, replacing an old, tiny microwave all were happy to be rid of. This one fits well with the office decor (and we're a design shop) and works very well.
The one complaint is that it can make a bit of noise when running with a dish of food in it, though not when we're heating up popcorn. The popcorn setting, by the way, makes microwave popcorn perfectly.
In general, it heats things quickly and well and we love the look.
Customer Review: You get what you pay for ... Summary: 3 Stars
The only big complaint I had with this product (one mentioned by others) is the decal on the front cover - when you go to peel it off, you end up scratching the surface. I don't know what kind of glue they use for the decal/sticker, and I tried a lot of products to get this sticker off without messing with the look of the microwave, but no luck. Not sure why they didn't use a normal/conventional peel off decal that doesn't ruin the look of the appliance.
