I am disappointed with my new Senseo coffee maker. Perhaps there is a coffee that I would like, but the dark roast is too strong and the decaf is too weak. My local stores only carry those and I don't want to place a big order of an unknown. If I put 2 Senseo pods in the large holder, it gets too hot and tastes like plastic. I bought the Coffee Duck so I could use local roasted beans and mix regular and decaf beans to make a less caffeinated coffee. I can make 4 oz that tastes good but I would like to make at least 8 oz at a time. When I try 8 oz, after a few seconds, clear water comes out. I think the holder is too full of water. I have tried different degrees of fineness with my cuisnart burr grinder and haven't gotten it perfect.Customer Review: Okay for a quick cup of coffee

I've had my Senseo for about a year. It was replaced on a recall as well. I have used several different coffee pods in addition to the Senseo brand. I must say this coffee pod maker is definitely no competition or replacement for a cup of hot brewed coffee. The flavor is weak at best even with two pods. The taste reminds me of instant coffee. The coffee is lukewarm when its done. I warm my empty mug in the microwave to try to maintain the coffee temperature once its poured into the mug. I understand Keurig has an updated pod brewer that makes hotter coffee. So lukewarm coffee must be an issue with all pod coffee makers. I brew coffee daily and use my Senseo only when I want a quick cup of coffee without all the fuss.Customer Review: Where's the....taste?

Bought this for our new RV - thought it would be neat to have a coffee maker without a pot. My wife gave me the "you gotta be kidding" look when I told her I ordered it. Nice unit, easy to use, heats up quickly and is ready to go within 60 seconds or so. However...it wasn't clear prior to ordering that it requires TWO Senseo coffee pods to make a normal-sized cup of coffee - which it makes very quickly and at a nice, hot temperature. Another however: even with TWO Senseo coffee pods, and the "dark roast" no less, the coffee is absolutely tasteless. Very, very disappointing. If you like a robust, rich, flavorful cup of coffee, this is NOT for you. Now my wife is giving me the "toldja so" look. Grrrrr......Customer Review: i should have listened to the poor reviews ...

First of all the coffee that came with the machine was not fresh at all , it was old and tasted awful. Then I switched to the Kenyan coffee pods that I ordered. This helped somewhat but I still find the coffee to be :
a. not strong enough
b. tastes of plastic , it's getting better but the first several cups
were hard to swallow.
c. the coffee discs are not sealed individualy and in my mind they lose
all their flavor and aroma quickly.
In order to make a cup of coffee that is reasonably drinkable I have to use
2 disks and make 1 cup of coffee with them.
I think I'll stick with my french press and write this off
as a failed experiement.

I have tried Keurig and several other machines. None works anywhere as well as the Senseo in terms of quality of brew.
It does take a little bit longer, and I wish there was a way to make a full 12 oz cup (requiring two pods) with a single operation.
However, the coffee is as good as the best coffee available in gourmet shops. There are many flavors and brands that are licensed to work.
If you enjoy freshly brewed coffee and don't want the bother an hassle of an espresso machine, then this is the best there is. I have two. One for home and one for office.
Both units have been reliable. However, if they break, they can't be fixed once the warranty expires. Thankfully, mine didn't
