Customer Review: Really wanted to love it.

I researched online for weeks before buying an indoor grill. I thought about going with a more expensive model, like DeLonghii, but bought the Sanyo. I really, really wanted to love this, but there were two big problems: (1) it didn't seem to get hot enough to really grill the food, and, more important (2) the coating on the drip pan started peeling off within 5 uses. Within 10 uses, at least 50% of the coating had peeled, and we decided that we shouldn't continue to use it anymore. I emailed the manufacturer through Amazon, and the manufacturer said to send the item back and let them know the tracking number. It took me awhile to get the item posted back to them, but it's been a couple weeks, and I've heard nothing. Bottom line - I'm saving up for something more durable, probably the DeLonghii.Customer Review: great buy

Sanyo has really set the bar high with this one! As a father of two little ones I am cooking all of the time and as anyone with kids knows that time is a rare commodity. After cooking up Mac & cheese with green beans for the 14th day in a row, I'm finally able to break the monotony and make something good for a change. Winters are long and I don't like going outside when its 5 degrees, even to grill. This grill from sanyo is definately a lifesaver in our home. Unlike other kitchen appliances that notoriously sit in a cabinet for months on end, this is becoming a permanent fixture.
It heats up fast and any smoke coming from it is a non issue, unless your burning your food. In short, this is a well built, high quality machine that I would not do without. Way to go Sanyo!!!!

I received mine today, after ordering it on Sunday (Thank You Amazon!). I had to try it out right away and so far I'm pretty impressed, especially for the money. I cooked a couple of chicken breasts, and while the time was a bit longer than expected, they turned out fine, and didn't get dried out at all. I'm not looking for the grille "taste", but I was very happy with how they turned out.
The only minor issues I have so far is the size (but I knew the dimensions when I purchased it) and the fact the thermostat doesn't have a narrower range of temp settings. I think this will take some trial and error to figure out the proper temp for whatever I'm cooking.
All in all, I'm very happy with it. I'd highly recommened it to anyone looking for an indoor grille.

This Sanyo Indoor Barbecue Grill(HPS-SG3) is great! It does everything mentioned and more. It's big enough to handle the large foods, ie. Chicken half, and small enough to accommodate the skebobs,:). My Grill heats up to cooking temperature quickly, as someone stated it doesn't heat up timely in one review. I can't see what's not to like. I've grilled everything from hot dogs to steaks(T-Bone), and have gotten restaurant satisfaction every time I've plugged my Sanyo in. This grill is outstanding and I am currently waiting until more becomes available to send as gifts to family members. I've learned you have to give some items a try for yourself. After reading many reviews from several different venues, I decided on this Sanyo 200 sq. inch grill and I am glad I did! Lots of cooking space, great temperature control, and very little smoke. Grilled some veggies, as well as several meats and they all turned out very tasty! Nice to have when the temperature is below 0, like now! I would caution anyone to only add enough water to cover the pan underneath, because unless you are cooking right next to your sink, it is easy to spill. I waited until it cooled down and soaked most of it up with a couple paper towels, so I didn't spill any taking the unit to the sink to clean. It is fairly simple to clean up, too. If you want a lot of great grilling inside and easy, you won't find a better grill for a better price!
