Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Santa Fe Quesadilla MakerCustomer Review: Mucho happy Summary: 5 Stars
Extremely happy with this quesadilla maker. Bought one earlier at 14.99 and used it many times. You must use 10 inch tortillas or larger (buritto size) or else your fillings will come out the sides and create a mess. The surface was easy to clean up. Make sure you clean it up just after it cools off otherwise if any cheese spilled out it is harder to get off if it stands too long and hardens. After mine are done cooking - around 4-5 minutes since my kids like them a bit crispier I take it out to cool a bit and then cut them into the triangles with my kitchen scissors. I read a review that theirs were cut into triangles after cooking but I don't see how that is possible. After cooking you get the score lines then I cut on the score lines. Anyway, enjoyed the maker so much they later were on sale for 9.99 and bought 3 more for gifts.
Customer Review: Started as a joke Summary: 5 Stars
I initally put this item on my bridal registry as a joke, and actually ended up recieving it. After I took it home and unpacked it I decided to give it a try, and I was rather impressed. The surface is certainly non-stick, which comes in handy when you forget to put the top tortilla shell on and the cheese begins to melt to the top iron. It cooks the quesadillas evenly and when you are finished cooking them (which only takes about 4-5 min)you can easily break off the sections. The cooking time is quick, and even with the prep time it takes to cook the chicken for the filling, you're looking at about a half an hour tops before dinner is ready. I am very satisfied with the quesadilla maker, even though I initially thought of it as a joke. It is certainly a worthwile purchase, especially when the gang is coming over for the game.
Customer Review: Great addition to the kitchen Summary: 5 Stars
You would think that a quesadilla maker might be a little unecessary since quesadillas aren't terrible difficult to make, but you will think differently after buying this item. It simplifies the process so much and makes perfect looking and delicious quesadillas. You can put so many different ingredients in them, from meat to vegetables to whatever else is your preference. Clean-up is not too difficult if you wipe it down right away. Be sure not to overload it with cheese or other ingredients that may ooze out. It's better to dip it in salsa and sour cream after it's been cooked, as opposed to putting them in with the rest of the ingredients. Also, be sure to follow the instructions regarding NOT using processed cheese.
Theis quesadilla maker creates quick, tasty meals, and I highly recommend buying it.
Customer Review: NO BONAFIDE QUESADILLA MAKER! Summary: 3 Stars
I rated this as a "3" because I found after several uses that the cooking time was way off. If you proceed according to the directions, you will get burned quesadillas. Pre-shredded cheeses become a runny mess, don't even attempt to use individual sliced processed cheese, you will get a waterdilla!! It is a hassle to clean, as the "prescribed" amount of cheese your are directed to use always drips down into the crevices. This machine requires supervision for the "perfect" quesadilla. Do I use it? Yes on rare occasions when I want to drag it out because the kiddies think it's cute *it has not earned counter space*. Would I buy it again? Nope!! Make a better quesadilla in a skillet and save yourself the time , cleanup, and money!! The only plus for this one is it's brilliant red color.
Customer Review: Only 2 Gripes Summary: 4 Stars
I agree with the others who've left reviews that this machine is an instant hit at every party, everytime. It is very easy to use and clean. My 2 gripes, however, are: a) there's no On and Off switch and b)it's not very thick, so you can only add a very small amount of fillings.
If you try to put in a "decent" size, the machine will not close...and when the machine does not close, your quesadillas do not seal!
But other than these few "flaws", I still highly recommend this item.
Quesadillas are easy to make, the ingredients are inexpensive to buy and dinner can be prepared in a SNAP which is important to a Mom who's always on the GO!
I highly recommed marinating chicken in Mojo (spanish) seasoning for a taste that's far BETTER than any restaurant quesadillas I've ever had!
