Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Santa Fe OG5TBR Tex Mex Reversible Oven GrillCustomer Review: Best Little Cooker in Texas! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this Reversible Oven/Grill because I was looking for a small appliance that wouldn't take up too much counter space and could be used while traveling...plus the red color fits with my kitchen decor. It's especially appreciated for rapidly putting together a meal after work for my husband and me. We even make cornbread and sweet breads (banana, strawberry, etc.) in it. We've tried several brands and packages of mixes, and have been delighted with each one. Just right for two people. Speed is a big point here, also -- the prepackaged mixes are ready in about 5 minutes. (A small cookbook supplied with the unit gives clear directions.) No more heating up my kitchen to make one pan of cornbread/sweet bread in the oven. It's more energy efficient, as well. This little oven/grill is also a perfect travel companion. We're no longer slaves to whatever happens to be available at the fast food restaurants or "greasy spoons" along our route. We can maintain a healthy, tasty diet. I highly recommend this item. It's much more versatile than any other I've seen or used. I've been searching for months for an additional one for myself and to purchase as gifts, with no luck. Amazon.com comes through again!!!
Description of Santa Fe OG5TBR Tex Mex Reversible Oven GrillThis versatile countertop appliance cooks everything from burgers to brownies, including omelets, fajitas, and enchiladas. It has two 5-1/4-by-9-inch nonstick cooking surfaces, and functions both open and closed. One surface is a grill for cooking fish, meats, and vegetables while searing them with attractive marks. The other surface is an indented plate (3 to 4 inches deep) that can be used as an oven for baking, as a griddle for eggs, omelets, or French toast, or as a warming tray for tortillas while you're grilling ingredients for tacos and enchiladas. (All this is explained in a booklet that also includes a number of recipes.) Each surface is surrounded by a channel to drain off fats, while a tray collects grease as it falls through the channels. Because the surfaces are nonstick, low-fat cooking is possible and cleanup is easy. Closed, the oven/grill measures 11 inches deep, 11-3/4 inches wide, 5 inches high. --Fred Brack
