I am a powerlifter/ bodybuilder and nutrition is equally as important as time spent in the gym to recover from training.
I bought this food scale primarily to weigh meats to know exactly how much protein I was getting out of a particular cut of meat. Whereas I had to eyeball and guess before, know I know exactly.
Of course, as a weight trainer, I am gaining weight, but I am sure someone looking to loose weight can use the scale for portion control, as well.

I generally like this Salter scale. The accuracy, ease of use and ease of cleanup all are great. But I don't like the price per measurement due to the costs and duration of a set of batteries. I don't use the unit too often, maybe once every week or two, but the batteries only last about six months. They are pretty expensive lithium ion button batteries--two of them. For the infrequency of use, I would expect the batteries to last several years. Otherwise it is a good scale.Customer Review: To Small

This is a scale that was purchased for use as a portion control device. Unfortunaltly, if you put a dinner plate on the scale the readout is almost impossible to see and the button to zero the scale is very difficult to reach. This is not so much a flaw in the design as a purchase made for the wrong use. For small bowl or small portion weighing this scale performs up to par, but if your looking for something to use with a dinner plate, look elsewhere.Customer Review: Cannot replace batteris

I've owned this scale for three years, and it funtioned well until the batteries quit. The case shows that it will open, but only if you have a triangle tipped screwdriver. I went to the Salter website to see if there was a tool available, but the website is down. According to the Google cache display, the site has been down all month. This piece of equipment is an exercise in futility, and I'm off to shop for a brand that has a working battery case.Customer Review: Great little scale!

I have a mechanical scale but I am constantly re-adjusting it to zero. So I bought this salter and I've found that I really like this little scale. I am constantly cutting down recipes and this scale is perfect for measuring out any dry or wet ingredient. I've never had one problem with this scale and I use it several times a week.
Also the scale is thin and flat and with the handy cover, the scale is protected for easy storage.
