Customer Review: Quit working after six months!!!

I loved this scale at first. Then, after about six months it started showing an "error" message whenever I tried to zero it. I let it sit up in the cabinet for several months until I could remember to pick up some new batteries, and started using my manual one. I rejoined Weight Watchers and decided to start using the digital scale once again. After replacing the batteries, it would not come on at all. Both my husband and I tried putting the batteries in and it still wouldn't come on. I was so disgusted with the thing that I just threw it in the trash. Would not recommend it to anyone! This little scale does a great job in the kitchen for either weight control portions or for cooking. It is accurate and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I ordered one for myself and one for my daughter. There is however, one problem.......do not use it near a microwave while the microwave is operating because the weight will appear to jump around. You may think the scale is broken but it isn't. I have had one for years and never noticed this problem but my daughter did. It is worth this little inconvenience in my opinion and I gave it 5 stars.

I've had a couple months to test this kitchen scale out and the score is in: It's awesome. It's simple, easy to use, and weighs everything accurately done to every little grain. And I can also use it to weigh my packages which is awesome for someone like me who mails things out all the time.
If you're looking for a new kitchen scale, go for this one. The price is right, it's accurate, weighs very little itself so it's easy to transport from room to room, and it just works great. Also, it's easy to read.
Now I can make perfect pizzas with every ingredient weighed perfectly, every time!

I rarely write poor reviews. Sadly, I must warn people away from Salter. I have this scale, and loved it -- until one day it displayed "Err". Changed the batteries, tried every likely form of "reset"; no luck. "Err".
I then contacted the company to find out what could be done, or what the stated "Lifetime Warranty" would do for me... No response. I contacted them again. No response. After a third time, I gave up and bought another scale.
Be wary. If you ever have a problem, the warranty is worthless. There's nobody home at Salter.

I've owned four different food scales over the years and this one is my favorite. It is easy to use and the display is large. You can change it from grams to ounces without having to reweigh the item. It measures small amounts accurately, something lesser quality scales have a hard time with. The only negative is that the plastic has some raised portions, making it harder to clean if you spill liquids or tomato sauce on it. If you are working with a messy recipe or a child who is learning portion control, you may want to put the scale in a plastic bag.
