This thing is great. It does a much better job than similarly priced kitchen scales from stores. It doesn't take up an unreasonable amount of counter space and is accurate enough for my uses, so overall I'm very happy with it. Granted it's not pin-point accurate like digital scales, but it's not meant to be. I use it for measuring food amounts in order to calculate their nutritional value and it works perfectly for that.
The only drawback I can mention is the placement of the weight readout. It's along the bottom facing outwards, as pictured, and this means you have to bend over and position yourself sort of carefully in order to center your eyes over the red tally mark. A better design would have been to put the readout flat on the bottom facing up like in this more expensive Salter scale: Salter #800 9 Pound Mechanical Aquatronic Kitchen Scale for Dry or Liquid Measuring I personally didn't care enough to justify spending twice as much for a scale, and after using it for a couple months remain happy with my decision.

This model 089 mechanical kitchen scale has the capability for a whole recipe to be weighed in one bowl yet weighed separately, without the need for additional bowls or containers. It comes with a 1.5 L dishwasher, freezer, microwave safe pitcher which inverts over the scale for neat, dust free storage. The pitcher is marked in fluid ounces, liters, pints and US cups. An add & weigh feature with a quick reset to zero, it weighs both pounds and kilos with maximum capacity of 5-pounds or 2.2-kilogram in precise 1-ounce/25-gram increments.
