Customer Review: Good kitchen scale, not for precision weighing

Bought the Salter 1004 Digital Kitchen Scale a few months back and have used it to weigh everything from food to a pine wood derby car. While it's not accurate beyond one quarter of an ounce, it is accurate enough for weighing sliced carrots for a stir fry. So if you are looking for a scale to weigh gold dust, look at another model.
The auto zero function is by far the best loved feature of this scale. You place the bowl on the scale first, press the on button and then toss the food being weighed into the bowl. It couldn't be simpler and there is proprietary bowl that constantly needs cleaning before the next use.
The easy to clean stainless steel surface makes the scale something always ready for use. And the fact that you can store the scale vertically means it can be stored in that unused space between the wall and another kitchen appliance. Which saves tons of space on the kitchen counter without making the scale something so hard to get to it is never used.
While it's not the cheapest scale on the market, this feature rich model is well worth its price tag. Treat is with care and it will be the last kitchen scale you will ever need to buy.

Salter's model 1004 with its highly popular solid state styling, has a stainless steel surface that can be used with a bowl or weigh directly onto the platform plus the add n weigh feature. The surface is resistant to staining or flavor carry-over and has a large 11mm, easy to read LCD. With a 10 year warranty, long life lithium battery this scale has an Excellence in Housewares Award Winning Design.Complementing kitchens with stainless steel appliances, this simple yet modern scale is so cleanly designed that the entire top surface is the weighing platform. Measuring 7-1/2 inches square by 1 inch in height, the slim scale slips neatly into a drawer or cupboard or even stores vertically?but it?s attractive enough to leave out on the counter. Food and other items can be weighed in a bowl or directly on the stainless-steel platform, which hygienically resists staining and flavor carry-over between weighings. The add-and-weigh function conveniently allows different ingredients to be added one after the other into the same bowl by pushing the on button in-between each ingredient. Measurements read digitally in precise 1/8-ounce increments for the first 5 pounds, then in 1/4-ounce increments up to 11 pounds. When switched to metric, the scale weighs in 2-gram increments up to 2 kilograms, then 5-gram increments up to 5 kilograms.
