Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of SHOWERTEK INC #WV2 6" Acry SHWR MirrorCustomer Review: Flimsy and leaky but works Summary: 3 StarsThis mirror does what it is supposed to, namely stay fog free. It seems like they must have patented this design so there is no other competition.
However the construction is extremely flimsy. The gooseneck came off when I was adjusting it, requiring all the hand pressure I could deliver to push it back into place.
The big valve for adjusting shower pressure never cut off the shower no matter what position it was in, and whenever I twist it it tends to pop out, ending the shower immediately as a jet of water shoots out the side. I notice that one of the prongs that hold it in place has broken off... I'm not sure if it was delivered that way or what.
The small valve for adjusting the mirror water flow leaks tremendous amounts of water, so much that it squirts out the side of the shower between the wall and curtain, making a big mess outside the shower.
I'm a handyman type of guy and I have tried various things like adding silicone grease to the o-rings, adding ties to keep the valves in place, but nothing prevents the leaking.
If I can't get it fixed I'll probably just epoxy the valves in place so there are no leaks... the valves are useless anyway.
Customer Review: Disappointing Summary: 1 Stars I ordered this as a replacement for the more expensive model which was out of stock. I should have waited for the more expensive model. I installed the cheapo model WV2 yesterday and.. One valve can only be turned with pliers and the other valve turns easily, but the flow of water is unchanged. The arm is too short. It is impossible for me to get the mirror in the right position. As advertised, the mirror does not fog but you waste too much water in the process. I called the showerTec 800 number for help this morning, but alas no returned my call.
Customer Review: Love this mirror Summary: 5 StarsThis mirror uses water from the shower to keep it hot and fogless. Easy to install and works as advertised. The mirror is made from white plastic, so it's kind of cheesy looking, but who's going to notice that?
Customer Review: It works! Summary: 4 StarsI bought this product for my boyfriend. He wanted a fogless mirror to shave with in the shower. I read lots of different reviews and picked this one based on its good reviews. I think my boyfriend is very happy with it. It does not fog up, and he comes out of the shower with a great shave all the time.
I think the only small issues with it are that you do need to turn it on before you turn the shower on to allow waterflow to the mirror. Make sure you turn it off once you turn the shower off if you are not going to use it again. You cannot turn it on and off while the shower is running because of all of the waterpressure. Although I haven't noticed a difference in waterpressure when the mirror is recieving waterflow.
Also its not that long. My boyfriend is very tall and with the mirror attached to the top of the shower head, the "shaft" of the mirror is not very long. I am not tall enough and unfortunately I cannot use the mirror. Something to consider if you are a shorter person when purchasing this product, or if your showerhead is set higher in your shower.
Customer Review: ShowerTek Fog Free Mirror Summary: 5 StarsThis is the second one I have bought. The first one lasted years but got a crack in the mirror and we wanted it replaced. All the stores had to offer was a mirror that stuck to the wall but this one is the ONLY one I've found that is Fog Free. I am very happy with this mirror and have not found anything that is equal or better. I always shave when I'm in the shower and this one never gets Fogged up. I never have to wipe steam off of it or put soap on it to prevent fogging. I went out of my way to find it and I highly recommend it.
