This is definetly a good item to buy if you are a college student needing a closer look a rocks. I've had mine throughout petrology and mineralogy classes and it's an awesome companion to have. This works fantastic, i dont use it for jewels persay but it has def helped with my geology classes and my botany classes, the 20X really allows you to see close up bud scales and the 10X allows for times when being that close isnt always what you need a great buy, you should buy it tooCustomer Review: You get what you pay for I guess....

This is a nice item but has a serious flaw the smaller lens hinge easily snaps when just extracting it so it ends up quite loose after and does not stay anymore in its protective casing. Im a geologist and that requires to have the right field equipment. The jewelers loupe is a very reliable hand lens with two magnifications. Been using it for about a month and it works great. I got this to show rock details to fellow hikers in the Rocky Mountains. It more than meets my expectations. It is a great pocket magnifier and light weight so no problem to carry or keep close at hand on the trail. Then there's the price--wow, what a bargain.
