Another review of this item recommends that you buy a 10x loupe that is 10x the cost. Probably good advice if you are going to use it constantly. But for occasional use (I need it for one-off examination of coins), this is a much better buy. It is very basic but the optics are clear, which is all that matters. Construction seems to be good enough. One review complains that it's like something out of a gum machine. My intention was to use this to examine small bugs and inserts, so I could ID them. Well, this thing doesn't really seem do any more than I could do sticking my eye close to the critter in question, so I didn't find it useful. Maybe it's good for rocks? Anyway, for the price it's ok, and it is quite small, making it easy to carry around, and the lenses fold back under a protective cover, so you can leave it in your pocket or bag without worries. Anyway, for what I want to do, I guess I'll have to get a 100X microscope.Customer Review: Ritch

10X & 20X Dual Buterfly Jewelers Loupe/Magnifier OK, I must say that I am not one for bothering with reviews. However, this little gem is certainly worth the five buck price tag (postage included, no less!) As a sixty year old, I was looking for something for those eye strainers such as coin mint letters and splinters. I am a graduate student in Geology and was looking for a field lens to identify minerals with. This product was a great option because of the dual powers it contained, and it was also several dollars less than 10X lens of what I feel were lesser quality. Shipping was quick and the entire transaction was simple to complete.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a field lens or just a general purpose, rugged piece of lab equipment.

This is a great little double loupe/magnifier. It has a solid feel to it, with finished edges, very nicely manufactured. Nice clear high quality distortion-free lenses. It even comes in a cute little plastic case that's good for storage, but not the type you will want to carry it around in. The price is almost ridiculously low; Just hold this in your hand and use it for a minute and you'll know this is a great bargain, and a device you'll want to use often and keep forever.
