Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of SE Jeweler's Loupe - 30XCustomer Review: Disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
I have a 16x loupe. I have been using it for years. When I saw this item with 30x, I ordered three without waiting. 10 days later, after my order I received the loupes and experienced them immadiately. Howewer the result was disappointing. My 16x old loupe was deffinitely magnifying better than 30x. I guess it is maximum 10x compared with my old 16x.
All tree loupes are in my drower without being used.
Customer Review: A great product at a great price Summary: 5 Stars
This loupe has a nice solid feel and has a good weight to it.
Alot of people are saying that it is 10x and not 30x but since I got it to look at plant species and cultures on petri plates the magnification this provides is more then enough to suit my needs.
I would prefer is it was a brushed steel instead of chrome because fingerprints really stand out on the casing.
Customer Review: 5x glass magnifier Summary: 3 Stars
My loupe came with a little chip in the depth of the glass near its edge. As others noted, the magnification is closer to 5x and the glass diameter is less than an inch (21 mm as stated) of which only about half an inch near the center is useful: at the edges the image is distorted/stretched out. I was able to read the ring stamp though, something I wouldn't be able to do without this inexpensive implement.
Customer Review: Basically a good product but has some shortcomings .... Summary: 3 Stars
First are the screws that hold the loupe to the cover; they work loose under even light usage. A rivet would have been a much better choice. Second is the lens holder, again under light usage the lens is loose in its holder.
I use my loupe fairly infrequently so it works well enough for my purposes but someone that intends to use it often should probably opt for a better quality loupe.
Customer Review: More than jewelry Summary: 5 Stars
This loupe is an excellent tool for buying jewelry, but for the price, it's also an excellent tool for children to discover how to take care of scientific tools and to discover the "little" things like the surfaces of plants, leaves, etc.
It's a good introduction to magnifying glasses and microscopes. I would recommend one for every kid in the family (as well as one for each adult!)
