Customer Review: If it's not water tight, it's not air tight

Bought one of these the other day and am returning it after finding out that it is not air tight. The way I wash/rinse a brand new container such as this is fill it a third of the way with hot, soapy water and give it a few swirls and shakes. I did that with this container and water began leaking out from around the edge of the lid. Since I am aware that hot, soapy water generates pressure in containers (don't know the physics of it) and causes things such as shaker lids to pop open on their own, I decided to fill it with cold water. Upon doing so and turning the container upside-down, water began leaking out around the edge. I then dumped out the water, closed the lid, squeezed it a few times, and could hear "pffffff ffffft" as the air seeped in and out of the weak seal of the lid.
If air can get in, what good is it? You'd think that, with the rubber construction of the seal, it would be air tight. Well, it isn't.
Perhaps mine was defective. Regardless, Rubbermaid gets a 1-star rating from me for finding a container that doesn't do its job.
