I love to cook, and this little machine has served me well for years. I purchased 2 times in my lifetime the more expensive apple-peeler-corer, and each time, the blades and mechanism somehow wear down, the apples slip, it's cumbersome to set up, and I end up throwing them away well before their time. I saw this Rotato on an infomercial years ago and got one for $10. The blades (original w/ the machine are as sharp as ever). Though I might have to core myself and peel the ends, I have found the reliability of this machine, the ease of getting it set up and out, the ease of cleanup, and the sharpness of the blades lasting a long time to be the true reasons why my family gets apple pies/cobblers and homemade mash potatoes and other potato dishes so often. I hate manual peeling, and this machine cuts the time incredibly. I wanted to get a couple for my grown children, and I just got online thinking that it might not be made anymore. I am so glad it is. It's worth far more than the minimal price it goes for!Customer Review: The Rotato Rocks!

Now, you can get the Rotato which is a hand cranked operation or the Rotato Express which is an automatic gadget. I prefer the Rotato because the wiring tends to get misplaced in my gadget loving household. Here's the deal... if you (and/or your family) loves potatoes (fried, diced, mashed... you get the idea), then you really must have a terrific potato peeler. And quite frankly, there is none finer. The hand cranked variety of the Rotato will last you through thousands of potatoes; and you will look like a whiz kid. This is a great thing to give for xmas-- a sort of generic xmas present that will be loved long after this xmas is over. Also, it comes with extra blades (because they do wear out) that you can locate in its base. I bought an extra set (at a very reasonable price) because I have broken a few of the blades along the way.Customer Review: Waste of Money

I received the Rotato from my husband due to my constant groanings regarding having to peel so many potatos for both Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners. What a waste of time and money. The Rotato worked terrific for the first three potatos....then the blade became too dull to do any more. We replaced the blade assuming that it wouldn't happen again, but we were wrong. We were able to peel no more than three potatos at a time before the blade became dull; and these were TINY potatos! Also, we disliked that we lost SO much of the potato when we peeled it. If we peeled a smaller potato, it wasn't even worth our time because we lost so much of it that there was hardly anything left of the potato to cook. The makers of The Rotato should be ashamed of themselves for selling such a worthless product.Customer Review: large crowd of potato lovers

I love, love, love this peeler. As a mother of 7 and now a still expanding family of approx. 26, this peeler is fantastic. I've had it about 4 years. I use it only for large gatherings. For Thanksgiving I peeled 10 lbs. of potatoes in approx. 15 min. I load a potato and while thats peeling I do the finishing work on the already peeled potato...which is literally a couple swipes of a hand peeler. I've never had to change the blade, it's sharp as ever. I have decovered it works a lot more efficiently if your potatoes are relatively clean. Last year I had some that I bought at a roadside stand and on peeling them the rotato clogged a couple times and I just had to take a toothpick and unclog it. The clean bag of potatoes I purchased this year went through perfectly.Customer Review: Great for people with arthritis and carpal tunnel!

I came from a family that believed if you didn't have time to make real mashed potatoes, you shouldn't make them at all. Let's face it: the box variety are nowhere near as good as the real thing. However, as I got older, and developed carpal tunnel and arthritis, I found I could not peel potatoes anymore.
Thankfully, we found a Rotato. Now, mashed potatoes are a reality again. It is so easy to use: even the children had no problem using it. I experienced no pain in my hands or wrists while peeling potatoes. What was once an impossible chore has now become an enjoyable family activity: and I can have my wonderful, home made mashed potatoes once again.
