Customer Review: They are forks, not skewers!

I suppose I should have known by reading the term "fork" in the description just how short these skewers are. They are not able to be used by my 6 & 8 year old children as they would be too close to the fire. We have a 28" fire pit and these handles have to be on the top of the safety grate to come near the flames or heat. Then you have to be careful not to burn yourself on the grate!
You also cannot put more than one marshmallow on each prong without squishing them flat. I'm not sure how others are doing it, but they do not fit size by side and still cook fully.
These would be great for a table top fire pit with mini-marshmallows, but for any real fire pit, they are useless!

I wanted something my kids and their friends could use to roast marshmallows or hot dogs over the fire, besides the sticks or streached out clothes hangers. These work perfectly. The two prongs keep what you're cooking from twisting around and cooking one side only. The prongs are long enough that we could fit two hot dogs or four marshmallows (not that kids would EVER want that many at once) and the different colored wooden handles don't get hot or confused with someone else's. They were also easy to clean - we had a bucket of "emergency" water they stood them in when finished to keep the marshmallows from drying on. I am thinking of getting another set for when we have larger get togethers.Customer Review: Fun!

We purchased these along with a fire pit for a Halloween Party. It worked out great! Everyone was able to gather around the pit to keep warm and roast marshmallows.
They have nice colored wood handles. You get two of each color so that helped us keep track of them! The length was comfortable enough that you didn't have to stand too close to the fire place and they seem fairly sturdy. If you plan to use these for smaller children I would probably recommend that you look for ones that are a little longer just to be safe but these are perfectly fine as long as parents are assisting.

I knew they were only 22" but I didn't think that would be a big deal. I bought them mainly for the price and I needed a bunch of them. We used them to roast marshmallows at a summer camp. They worked but the kids had to be too close to the fire, which wouldn't be a big deal in the fall but our temps were over 90 deg.
They would work for hot dogs but are better suited for marshmallows due to the thin wire used. Good for the price but I would not buy them as our family ones. we have a campfire at least once a week in the summer so we use our forks a lot.

I only gave the item 4 out of 5 because I bought them as a gift and haven't actually gotten to use them. However, I did receive them quickly and am quite impressed. They were longer than I was expecting based on other reviews and seem very sturdy. The handles are solid wooden ones and will be comfortable and easy to hold for a child or an adult. I plan to make a little gift basket with these roasters and s'more ingredients for some relatives who are moving into a new home with outdoor fireplace. I believe you will be very pleased with this item.
