Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Rome's #1100 Old Fashioned Waffle Iron, Cast IronCustomer Review: waffle iron Summary: 4 Stars
I've used this waffle iron a couple of times and it does take getting used to. I am getting better at it. I like a very crisp waffle, so I tend to cook mine well done. I will use it more in the winter month's than in the summer. My only problem is trying to see how well done the waffle is without it breaking in two. But I am pleased with it. I would like it much BETTER if it was made in the U.S.A.
Customer Review: Works Great! Summary: 5 Stars
Used this for the first time this morning. Made PERFECT waffles. Seasoned first per manufacturers directions on my gas grill. Went smoothly. Made waffles this morning with Kodiak Cakes mix and Krusteaz and both mixes worked perfectly. Light and fluffy on the inside, crisp on the outside. No sticking! I sprayed with Pam first. Works great! My husband wants to ditch the electric waffle iron.
Customer Review: Good, simple cookware Summary: 4 Stars
Once seasoned and properly pre-heated, produces good waffles. Note that its a little work to get the protective wax off when you first get it and that patience is required if you are making a large batch with only one iron. The iron has worked well for me so far. Proper use and care probably requires familiarizing oneself with caring for cast iron cookware (not a complex process).
Customer Review: Not as it seems Summary: 1 Stars
I was looking for a non-Teflon waffle iron for my daughter's birthday. This one looked like a good option to avoid the hazards of the non-stick coating. I thought it was the size of a normal waffle iron. In actuality, it is the size and style of a camping pudgie pie maker, without a handle. Not at all what it appeared to be, or what you would want to use on your home stove.
Customer Review: Works Great.. Wish the handles were a little longer. Summary: 4 Stars
Once seasoned, this is absolutely a great waffle iron. Use it at home regularly and will add to the camping gear this summer.
Took a little bit of practice to figure out how much batter to add and how long cook times were (less on the first side as it is on the heat cooking while you are adding the batter).
Watch out for HOT handles!!!!
