Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Rival Stainless Steel Electric Fondue Pot

Customer Review: Works Great if You Can Get Over the Flawed Design
Summary: 2 Stars

The good news: This fondue pot heats up very quickly, gets very hot and the non-stick surface is truely non-stick. My issues are with the design: the plug should be called "sure it's plugged in?" instead of "sure release." It wouldn't stay plugged in; the slightest nudge and it'd come unplugged from the pot. There's two prongs but it seems to only stay together via the magnet in the plug. Also, I don't like that the temperature control is blocked by a handle. It seems like an obvious mistake to place them like that. This fondue pot works well but because of the plug and the knob location we'll be returning ours for a different brand.

Customer Review: Great for the price!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this around 2 years ago after a craving during finals. For being a flippant purchase, it has really served me incredibly well during the time that I've had it. It's super easy to clean, and great for chocolate or cheese, or just keeping soup warm for serving at the table. The only complaint I have about it is that the screws that hold onto the legs have the tendency to come loose, but hey, I just tighten them back with some needle nose pliers and keep on trucking. It makes working with chocolate for confections a ton easier (no more worrying about condensation from a double-boiler)and really has been worth every penny.

Customer Review: One major drawback
Summary: 3 Stars

It's a Fondue pot, and it's very good at being a fondue pot. The only issue I have with it is the cord. The "breakaway" portion of the cord is not held particularly well by the magnet, and it disconnected twice through normal use. The other cord issue is length. If the cord on this is 36 inches long, I would be very surprised. Unless you have an outlet right at your table, this will be a very frustrating thing to use, and all the warnings say not to use any kind of extension cord with it.

But as far as it heating oil for fondue.. it works great in that arena.

Customer Review: Do You Fondue Redux
Summary: 4 Stars

This review is the companion to my review of "125 Fondue Recipes." Basically, I used to "do fondue" all the time when I was first married -- the metal pot on a stand with a mini-sterno beneath to melt the cheese and chunks of bread on skewers for dipping. Only the heat was never sufficient to keep the cheese properly melted over time and it was always annoying to have to buy those mini-sternos. At last, a better mouse trap (ummm...fondue pot). Easy to use, contents stay hot and easy to clean up, as well. What more could you ask?

Customer Review: Great for parties!
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought our Rival Fondue Pot after a wounderful trip to the Melting Pot and decided to creat our own fondue at home. We love using and showing off our Rival Foundue Pot, it looks sleek and comes with enough skews for company. The electric option allows you to controld the heat which makes it sfae to cook anything (cheese, chocolate, and even meet). It is a little difficult to clean because it is not dishwasher safe and can not be submurged into water. It was a good price and we enjoy using our foundue pot.
