I bought the Rival RCS200 20-cup for my wife and I to use for a rather unusual main purpose. Ever since the Melamine "gift" from China in the Gluten used in mainly dog and cat foods boondoggle, we had decided to cook our own to feed our family of 3 Boston Terriers. We cook chicken thighs (bulk pack) and add rice along with vitamins, minerals and other vegetables to feed them and they LOVE IT! The rice cooker does a great job preparing 20 cups at a time (we cook once a week for our guys) and have only had one (1) incident of 'brown bottom' and we have figured out how to solve it! Pay close attention to the cooker as it ends its cooking cycle and as soon as the cooker turns itself off, immediately unplug it! This seems to prevent any additional heat being put into the pot, resulting in almost totally no 'brown bottom' at all. Also, if you use brown rice instead of white, you will have much more nutritious rice and the brown rice doesn't have any 'brown bottom' that we have been able to detect so far. Pay attention to the instruction manual and follow the measuring directions closely and you will have one of the most satisfying rice cooking experiences you may ever have-except from eating the rice at a Chinese restaurant! No muss, no fuss, no cleaning pot and lid...WooHoo!

Rival 20 Cup Stainless Steel Ricke Cooker w/Steaming BasketAnyone who has ever used an electric rice cooker will vouch for them; they are simple to use, easy to clean, and the rice is consistently perfect. This handsome rice cooker, with its brushed stainless steel exterior and black handles, looks like it belongs in a professional kitchen. A domed glass lid shows what's going on during the cooking process.
The measures in the accompanying booklet are for using the water-fill lines on the inside of the bowl and the little measuring cup that comes with the cooker, which is slightly different than an actual cup measure. (Jotting down standard measures in the margin will help in case the little cup ever gets lost.) The rice cooker stops cooking and switches to warm when it senses that the water has been cooked off.
Cleaning is almost as easy as wiping out the removable insert with a paper towel. At the very most, it'll take a few quick swipes with a warm, soapy sponge. (To protect the nonstick coating, don't use anything more abrasive than a gentle nylon scrubber.) The rice cooker measures 12-1/2 across by 10 inches high. Rival includes a one-year warranty against defects and comes with a detailed booklet of instructions, recipes, and tips. --Garland Withers
