This was one of the best purchases for quick and easy fun for the family and neighbor kids. No chance of anyone getting hurt because it will only shave the ice with the opening closed. It doesn't take up much space, works fast and efficient! We also use it to make shaved ice for slushy drinks with pop iced tea, anything you want, as opposed to just plain ice cubes. It comes with straws, cones, and different flavored packets of mix to use to flavor your snow cones. Local department stores also carry individial bottles of the syrup or you can purchase them online. It looks like it doesn't hold a lot but it fills about three 8-ounce cups to the brim with the "snow" each fill up of ice cubes. It makes "fine" as opposed to "coarse" snow in texture. It shoots the "snow" strait out into whatever container you use to collect it in; no having to shovel or scrape anything out. Again, it was a great purchase. If it broke down, would I replace it? You bet, in a heartbeat! We used it to make snow cones for a fundraiser and it was a real trooper and kept up with the crowds; works very quickly. It's the only small appliance I allow my 7-year-old to operate because I know it's safe. You won't regret purchasing one. I couldn't be happier with it.
