Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Rival FD350S Stainless Steel Electric Fondue

Customer Review: Fondue? Fonwho? WONDERFUL!
Summary: 5 Stars

I received the stainless steel version of the Rival fondue pot as a gift (I really never knew I wanted one). Upon opening the box, uncharted nostalgia came flooding to me as I was actually excited to try an infamous "fondue". What a wonderful gift this has been! It is more than large enough to double or triple anything you may be cooking up. It has very accurate temperature control and heats VERY fast. The breakaway magnetic safety cord is very thoughtful, tho you need to have it on just so for it to stay (otherwise it does what it is supposed to....it releases) once you get the hang of it, there should be no problems. The dipping forks are very long and allow you to weasle around others who are taking their time to dip. Very awesome gift I never expected! Extremely easy clean-up too! Just unhook the power cord and put the pot in the sink or dishwasher...it's that easy! Fondue parties will be sweaping the nation once again. Give this one a try~ you won't be let down.

Customer Review: Best fondue pot!
Summary: 5 Stars

This fondue pot is fantastic! The best is that, being an electric pot, you can cook whatever you want right in the pot instead of cooking it on the stove and transferring it into the pot. It heats up very quickly and get the job done great. I've made both cheese and chocolate fondue in it. You can keep the pot on warm so it won't burn the fondue but can heat it up if the fondue starts to get too thick. It is very easy to clean and doesn't scratch. It is a great size and I've used it to feed parties from 2 to 8.

The only downside to this pot is that the electrical cord is rather short. It is long enough to be plugged in the kitchen while you are cooking, but not really while eating at the table. Unless you have an outlet on your dinner table, you will most likely need an extension cord if you want to keep the pot on while eating from it.

Overall, I would 100% recommend this pot to anyone looking for an easy to use pot.

Customer Review: very good for 1, maybe 2 people
Summary: 4 Stars

My review is very split: if you are going to be using this with 3 or 4 people, order a second pot. For one, maybe two people it works great. Here are the problems I encountered when using with 3 or 4 people:
- not enough forks (unless you have a LONG time to eat)
- food falls off the forks, they need to be more substantial
- cannot have more than 4 forks in the pot at one time, throw away the fork ring, it makes things worse
But for one or two people:
- can handle four forks at a time from the SAME direction (again, throw away the fork ring)
- by alternating forks from cooking to eating, the pot will stay hot and you will be well feed
- great for vegetables, fresh and crunchy (try bok choy)
- use small pieces of meat and they will cook quickly
I have not tried the pot with oil, cheese or chocolate; I just use water with spices or a broth.

Customer Review: Who needs nonstick.
Summary: 5 Stars

I used this fondue to make a nacho cheese dip for a party. I left the heat setting on warm (was initially afraid of sticking despite everything I read), but I could have set the heat on higher because there was no sticking or uneven heating from a hot spot. The breakaway cord came in handy when a not-so-sober friend picked up the whole pot to take outside and (thankfully) didn't sweep everything off the table that was in the way of the cord. After a soapy soaking, the pot was easy to clean and I didn't have to worry about using the scouring end of a 3M sponge since there was no nonstick finish to scratch.

My friends went to the Melting Pot Restaurant and spent over $100 for a couple. This pot is DEFINITELY a great value considering I could have purchased several pots for the cost of one dinner out and we'll be having LOTS of fondue parties since this is so easy to use and clean.

Customer Review: Simple fun fondue
Summary: 5 Stars

After a recent great fondue at La Grange Saint-Michel in Paris, we came home to New York determined to reactivate our old late 1970s fondue pot...What a disaster, with the useless alcohol burner, uneven heat, popping oil..A mess..So we researched on the web, and found this Rival pot and voila, perfection! Gives an even fast heat, nothing but fun. We use safflower oil. Effortless simple fondue. Set the temp, and cook. Stable low leg design.
Fully immersible unit, so cleans up perfectly. Stainless steel only, so no teflon issues. 8 fondue forks included, so two people can have a lot of pieces cooking at the same time. Great value and as reliable as our toaster oven. Made very well. For sauces, make up a simple bernaise, and for another try a savory remoulade mayonnaise...100% happy with this unit. Ready to use, just take it out of the box, fill with oil, and cook.
