Customer Review: Fondue Fabulousness
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this as a lightening deal as a xmas present for myself. New Years Eve I pulled it out to make a fun and special meal for the family. This was my first time making fondue, so I found a good simple looking recipe online, bought all (too many) ingrediants and got to work. I tried recreating all my fav's from the Simply Fondue restaurant. Wow I made way too much food, but it was good. Fondue was ready withen 5 minutes of putting all ingrediants into the pot. Started with a cheese fondue. Haven't tried it yet as a fryer, but I'm sure it would work fabulously. These were my only two issues I came across. The safety magnet feature of the cord was a bit tricky. I kept accidently unplugging it. I finally just got used to it's barely attachedness. Second, I unplugged it to put on table to serve and it did cool off quickly, much quicker than my other batch of fondue that I had put in a small crock pot. Both pots were unplugged. Now if you were using an extension cord this wouldn't be an issue, I just didn't feel like digging one out at the time. All in all, love it. Fondue was quick and easy to make and yummy as well. Planning on buying another for a friend. Can't even imagine buying one that uses a candle or gas thing.

Customer Review: EPIC!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, and he tackle glomped me. We've only used it for cheddar cheese so far, but it's super awesome! It's a really fun experience to stand around in the kitchen with people, dipping anything that can be skewered at the end of a fork into cheese and talking. I'd really love to try getting a second one for parties and doing something fancy.

The only cons to this product are the cord being rather short, and the pot being difficult to clean.

We both really like that it's electric... Open flames aren't really that great in a a small apartment without a lot of counter space, and we don't have to buy fuel. The heating element works pretty well to keep the cheese hot and melty. I've never used this with more than 4 people, but I don't think it would be good for a big crowd...The pot is small and really only 2 people can dip at once easily.

If you've never considered fondue, get a pot! You'd be amazed how simple it is to make a delicious dip, and how many things taste good dipped in it. I'd recommend using a thicker, less crumbly bread product than regular bread though... Bagels work really well, and you can use flavored ones.

Customer Review: Great Fondue Pot
Summary: 5 Stars

Stainless steel pots are best suited for the high heat needed for oil or broth fondues. This pot heats up very quickly and is great for broth (I haven't done oil), but I felt it was a bit large for cheese or chocolate fondue. With the purchase of 2 7" oval soup bowls, I solved the problem quite easily and use this pot much more efficiently. The 7" bowls fit comfortably in the center of splash ring (6" diameter) and makes the pot a functional double boiler. I'll typically start the broth in the pot, do cheese with a double boiler on the stove, and then transfer it over to the preheated bowl resting on the top of the pot. When we're done with the cheese, we merely remove the bowl and move on to the next course - no reheating, no cleaning of the fondue pot necessary. I do chocolate in the same manner using the second bowl (hot water in the pot). The chocolate remains smooth and warm in the bowl and holds up very well for a long time, left over chocolate can be refrigerated in the bowl, and cleanup is a breeze.

I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend this pot highly.

Customer Review: I looked at over 6 brands/3 types/ bought this.

First the heating is the best, from warm to over 400+ it heats not only quickly but more important safely! Take a close look on 'more pictures' see the 3 stage system the element is welded to the bottom of the pot the temp guide slides in and the electric cord is breakaway using hook and magnet, no way has the pot fallen or slid off the table with the 2 klutzes that live with me. We started a family Fondue Friday and have tried it ALL. Chocolate, Mex cheese, broth boil, and fry. Candles only do chocolate and cheese, sterno if not careful burns the chocolate and only hot enough to fry for 30 min. maybe. Think out side the description and put soup in it for the buffet table, or baked beans. The cord is short but a heavy duty extension solved that and the safety features resolves worry. Best for 3 to 6 adults. Our favorite is doing a sweet & sour combo of shrimp, scallops, pork, chicken, beef, everybody got to dip and fry their favorites while picking out their steamed veggies, sauces and type of rice. Amazon's shipping had this arriving quickly and in excellent condition.

Customer Review: Breakaway and short cord take away a star
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been using this fondue pot for a while, and I like the way it performs - when the fondue level runs low, it still manages to keep the heat even. When melting the cheese and wine initially, it heats quick but doesn't burn. At first I thought I was going to regret not getting the non-stick version, but I don't have a problem. Even crusted cheese comes off easily, and I can stick the pot part in the dishwasher (make sure you let all the water dry off before using again, common sense)
The reason it ends up being a star short is the power cord. This may have been the safest way to do it, but I find myself tethered to an extension cord (which increases the chances of a breakaway disconnect just by weight) or to some wall where the very short power cord plugs in directly.

Just for us, since we're generally careful with all the appliances we have, I'd have preferred a slightly stronger breakaway, like the MacBook Pro's (try it) or even a non-magnetic weak lock.

Still a nice, reliable, very functional product.
