Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Rival 4071-WN 32-Ounce Hot Pot Express, WhiteCustomer Review: I needed your reviews for confidence Summary: 5 Stars
I have one that looks like this under Toastmaster label. I use it strictly for boiling eggs. I like the fact it maintains a heat level and I can then adjust it. I have forgotten it a couple of times and no problems. I just didn't trust it for reheating things I now will because of your reviews. I reheat coffee and no longer use microwave. Because of your reviews, it will replace my microwave for reheating. I also realized I haven't cleaned it for a long time:) Lazy. I just did by boiling water with a little vinegar. What a difference. Thanks for your reviews, all of them. I'm learning to use this kind of communications to make purchasing decisions and decided I better join y'all to help others. It works so well for me; Especially being alone.
Customer Review: Great Kettle Summary: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful little kettle. I have had mine for just over a year and am about to buy some more for Christmas presents. This boils water quickly, has a shut-off that has kept me from losing it so far (I am one of the most absent minded people on the planet and forget about my water for like an hour at least once a week), and has a smooth bottom, meaning that I don't have to try to figure out how to clean residue off of the heating coil found in other electric kettles.
Looking at the other reviews, it seems that people do not think that this is a great hot pot. I honestly can't say. I boil water several times a day, but have only used it to heat soup on a few occassions. It always worked and I had no problems cleaning it.
Customer Review: A piece of junk! Summary: 2 Stars
Don't listen to the people who just bought it and think it's great.
I've had this product for roughly 6 months. Soon after I started using
it, white flecks of unknown stuff started appearing in the water. At
first I thought it was due to our hard water, but I've read this is a
common complaint.
Despite this, it heated water up quickly and seemed to work fine..
until recently. It began giving off an odd burning plastic smell and
the heat was much weaker. I checked to make sure it was dry and no
loose wires, but it seems physically normal. In any case, I'll not
use it again as it could become a fire hazard. Get a better model. This one
may be cheap, but it's also junk!
Customer Review: Beware! Summary: 1 Stars
The metal heating "plate" or heating element as some would call it is surrounded by plastic, this entire unit is plastic except for the heating element. first of all, plastic + heat= chemicals leaching out into your boiled water which some studies indicate it can lead to cancer. Also the heating element rusts and will eventually melt the plastic it is surrounded by.
I actually owned one of these so I can tell you first hand about the terrible quality.
Pro's:
+low price
+heats water very quickly
Con's:
-not BPA free
-cheap quality
-will rust
-melts the plastic if it gets too hot. you must unplug it immediately!
-lasted only 3 months of daily use
Customer Review: Broken out of box. Summary: 1 Stars
Arrived broken out of the box. What do you expect for $12? I have a rule. Don't buy anything too big to fit in the trash can. This one fit quite nicely. This is the second purchase in a row from amazon that was a horrible experience. I think I will stick to eBay. At least there, I have no expectations. I didn't realize I was being charged for Prime shipping about $80 per year. So the tea pot (only purchase this year) actually cost something like $90 with shipping. I turned Prime shipping off. So Actually I saved $80 minus the $12 (plus the $12?) so the tea pot saved me $68. It all depends on how you look at it. The fact that it arrived broken saved me $68. What a great product. I should buy another - on ebay.
