I ordered this item to allow me to re-size my wedding band. It's described as being a "Steel Sizing Tool," but is constructed of aluminum. A rare earth magnet isn't drawn to it, and the weight and color leave no doubt that we're not dealing with "steel."
Amazon promptly refunded my purchase price when I told them about the error, but then provided a link to the same item. After reading that another reviewer had received an aluminum unit and looking carefully at the picture which looks like the same thing I received, I decided to purchase a slightly more expensive item that is advertised as solid steel, with about double the shipping weight.
By the way, this sizer has stepped ridges in it, so anyone like me who wants to tap a ring down the shaft to enlarge a ring might find that a problem, whereas the solid steel one found here at Amazon appears to be completely smooth.

Heavy Duty wire working tool Can use for basic ring sizing (markings show sizes 1 up to 14) Unlike plastic ring sizers, you can use this solid metal mandrel for hammering metal. Form rings directly on mandrel! You can re-round rings that have become bent with wear by slowly forcing them down the mandrel until desired shape is achieved.
