Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Riedel Large Microfiber Polishing ClothCustomer Review: Large, refined and elegant: Recommended Summary: 4 Stars
I compared this wine glass towel to the other options I could find on the market (towels from Wine Enthusiast and Wubeez). Though it wasn't my top pick, I give this product a favorable rating and would recommend it. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this product.
This is strong entry from the Riedel wine glass company (rhymes with needle) . The product is thoughtfully designed and marketed consistently with their industry-leading glassware products.
Strengths:
-Size. This was the largest towel of the group.
-Aesthetics. This was the most refined and elegant looking towel I evaluated. Its white background makes it easy to see when the towel has gotten dirty and needs to be washed. Its red trim with black Riedel logo look crisp.
-Pliability. The Riedel towel's silky material enables it to easily drape over and around a glass
Weaknesses:
-Absorbency. It takes me a couple of passes to dry a wet glass with a dry towel.
-Weight. Although the towel is by far the largest, the lightweight material it is made of collapses on itself when you try to bunch it up inside a large glass.
Recommendation: Recommended.
Customer Review: Excelsior! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a large collection of glassware, ranging from Riedel, Libbey to Antique, all various designed to serve a myriad of functions. Without a doubt, polishing glassware, or cleaning it so there are no markings or streaks is many times a pain. However, I decided to bite the bullet and buy the microfiber cloth, and it is honestly the most wonderful cleaning tool for glass; rinsing the glassware under some cool water, shaking off the excess water, and then using the Riedel very briskly, you get a wonderful shine and clear finish to the glass with no spots.
In terms of washing, it has quite a few requirements, but you wash it along with your whites (on hot), just make sure to not put it into the dryer or use fabric softener.
Customer Review: Best cloth for polishing wine stemware Summary: 5 Stars
I like to have put out clean, sparkling wine glasses when we have guests over for dinner just like you get in good restaurants. No matter how carefully I wash and dry the glasses they always come out with some spots or other marks. So, I did some research and found this Riedel crystal cloth. I ordered it here on Amazon.com. When it arrived a tried it out on a few already clean glasses and it worked great. Obviously, you still need to spend some time on each glass but it does a great job and it treats your crystal glasses with respect! Buy one, you'll be happy I'm sure.
Customer Review: Good in the beginning, but... Summary: 1 Stars
This towel worked great at first -- really polished the crystal. Within a few months, though, it totally lost its absorbancy. It just smears the water drops around and makes the glasses look awful. You have to wash it with very little detergent and cannot use dryer sheets, so it requires special handling in the laundry. Not worth the extra money or the Riedel name (I love my Riedel glasses however). I am throwing it away and getting a less expensive, but hopefully better microfiber cloth. Or maybe I'll go back to linen.....
Customer Review: Great Microfiber Towel Summary: 5 Stars
I've had my fair share of microfiber towels, but this one is absolutely fabulous!! No lint, and brings the shine back.. Crystal clear wine glasses! As mentioned, the towel is large enough for you to hold the glass with one side of the towel, and use the other side to dry and polish. There are many types of microfiber towels, this is the "silk" like feeling type.
