We have Reynolds Handy Vac at home, and it has done a lot to help with our storage problem. Our refrigerator used to be packed with a massive amount of food. But now that we have the Handy Vac, we have more space for storage. You see, the Handy Vac compresses food into a bag, and the vacuum sucks out the air so the bag will take less space. Now that we've used the Handy Vac, we have about 50% more space then we used to have in our refrigerator. I'm glad that we've bought this because when we go somewhere like Costco, we buy more than we can store, but with the Handy Vac, it won't be a problem anymore. :]]

If your worried that the bags might leak or break when using it, they won't. Our bags haven't broken or ripped the slightest bit when using it. xDD

I really like the convenience of this gadget. Sometimes it doesn't start sealing the bag but a few adjustments on how I how hold it usually gets it going. It seals well enough. I use it to thaw out frozen food in a tub of lukewarm water and never have any leaks. Plan to buy the larger bags for bulkier storage. I have 1 gripe with this product and hence 4 stars intstead of 5. It should have the option of using a DC adapter instead of exclusively batteries. Recharging batteries is just an extra step.
**UPDATE**
some have complained about bag supply. not an issue around here. You still have to have the seal set up just right. Good news: I bought a $10 universal AC/DC adapter and was able to wire it up. No longer have to buy batteries.

I was skeptical at first about this product after reading several of the reviews of the bag not staying sealed. However, I lucked out because all of my bags have stayed sealed (knock on wood!). All of my items are put into the freezer right away. I believe some reviewers have put the bags in the refrigerator and that may be the problem with the air leaking out.
I haven't had any problems with the device sucking the air out. If you move the device around a little bit, it will make a louder sucking noise and start to deflate the bag. I haven't had to change the batteries yet so I cannot comment on that. I have had this since Christmas and have not had any problems with it. They are available at Target for under $10.

I was very disappointed with this product because I was having problems with the bags leaking in air after I vacuumed sealed it. I went to this site to see if other users were having the same problem. One reviewer claimed that there were oil in the bag that made her allergy worst. Light bulbs flashed in my head and I realized that the bags depended on a good coat of oil at the zip lock to seal it. Bags that leak must not have had the oil applied correctly.
I dip the tips of my fingers into some cooking oil and placed a thin coat of vegetable oil across the inside zip lock from a bag that previously leaked. I then placed some nuts in the bag and vacuum sealed it. This procedure works because the bag does not leak anymore.

For the person who could not figure this out, my five year old was able to accomplish it in less than a minute without reading instructions! Go to Walmart, pay $10.00 and NEVER use the bulky expensive sealers AGAIN! This is small, comes with batteries, and works in seconds! It's twice the size of a battery operated toothbrush and has one button to operate!
I'm so amazed that someone could even ADMIT having difficulty using this! For shame! The button is a bit hard to push, but that is a miniscule flaw compared to how much time and money and space you will save using this handy vacuum sealer!
This is now my favorite appliance!!
