Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Revere 3-1/2-Quart Copper Bottom Teakettle

Customer Review: Finally, my mother's old tea kettle!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tried several more decorative tea kettles and finally bought this one. The wide bottom fits on any size burner and the copper heats super fast. Then there's the wake-the-dead whistle--no way to get distracted and forget the water was boiling, only to find a white-hot melting mass on the stove (yes I have done that--more than once). I read that the smaller Revere kettle dripped when pouring so I got the larger one, and it pours fine. Just skip all the others and get this one. Really.

Customer Review: Great for large amount of boiled water
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased the 3.5 qt. tea kettle because of its size. I have a large
teapot, and don't have to boil water twice to fill it. I found it hard to pull the spout trigger with a pot holder, so I put on a cotton glove. Works great to keep the steam and heat off my hand. My mom had one as long as I can remember, but hers was smaller. I have fond memories of her pouring water in our cups for tea. I miss my mom, but have the same teakettle, which reminds me of her when I use it.

Customer Review: Replacement after 20+ years
Summary: 5 Stars

Great kettle, fast heating. Without a fill-hole on the top, steam doesn't escape when pouring - a great feature. Easy to use pouring spout. The whistle fell off after 22 years of use and then it was a month after that the plastic melted because the whistle wasn't working and I wasn't paying attention. Easy to keep clean - wipe it off when wiping down the stove after cooking.
Oh! And the large size is great if you need to pour 3 qts of hot water down a sluggish drain!

Customer Review: Best Teakettle Ever
Summary: 5 Stars

This is quite possibly the best tea kettle on the market. I had a smaller version of the same thing for 20 years and replaced it with this larger one. I tried a "more stylish" kettle, but was very disappointed in the weight and shape. With the spout on the top of this one, it can be filled to capacity and it is still light enough to manage. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a durable, functional kettle. Nice, loud whistle. Easy to fill and pour. Excellent value.

Customer Review: It looks like the teakettle you remember
Summary: 3 Stars

but it is made with less metal. Still stainless steel and copper, just less of it. (I know it's copper 'cause now, after maybe a month of use, there's a little green ring around the base.) The handle is a modern-day version of bakelite. The whistle works! The kettle is 8 1/4" (21cm) in diameter. On my restaurant-scale stove, it is one of the rare kettles that covers the burner, which is why I bought it. On a "medium" burner setting, the handle stays cool enough to touch.
