Customer Review: That's a Man's pot!

I admit that I only ordered this pot because it's huge and 75% off. I'm a man. I like too cook, but not often. I make large batches. That being said, I had one main concern with a pot this big.. I currently have no stove and am forced to use a dinky little 8 inch hot plate. The pot is 11.5 inches in diameter.. Did my 3 gallons of authentically-Italian, slaved-over, pour-your-heart-out-mouth-watering sauce have an 8 inch burn ring on the bottom? No, because the bottom has almost 1/4" aluminum sandwiched between stainless steel plates = excellent heat distribution. I barely even stirred it during the three hours of simmering.
As for construction, there are no rivets. Side and lid handles are spot welded on (sides = 8 welds each, lid = 12). I've been a metal worker for 10 years and can vouch for the durability of a stainless steel spot weld, and at this quantity I doubt you could get them off without ripping a hole in the pot wall. Rivets may be stronger, but the also get in the way when cleaning. I prefer the welds. All handles are no frills 5/16" bent stainless bars. This is "commercial grade" cookware, so aesthetically speaking it's nothing special, but she'll cook even and take a beating.. like I said, it's a man's pot.
