Customer Review: Not as nice looking as in the picture, but functional

When I first got this I was a little disappointed with the appearance. It's cast iron with a black glaze on the inside, but the red on the outside is some kind of paint that comes off fairly easily. I could scratch it off with my fingernail. I thought the red was too bright, so I ended up taking a scrubber to it until more of the black iron showed through. It looks nicer now, but I'd be hard pressed to call this a feature.
Since it's metal it gets very hot almost immediately when you pour tea into it, but the flip side of having no insulation is that it also cools off pretty fast. You probably don't want this if you're going to wait twenty minutes to drink your tea, but I pour and drink as soon as it cools off, so I find it's fine.
