Read about these clay bakers and was a bit leery. Nonetheless I ordered 2 (1 by accident) and that was one of my best investments. I enjoy baking artisan breads and I must say that the breads baked in these rival or surpass anything I have ever eaten before.
Simple to use, just follow instructions and it won't disappoint you. I bake my breads starting in a cold oven and they come out great.
Have also used this Rommertopf for making quick meals of roasted chicken and beef roasts. They work great. Clean-up is a breeze.
Highly recommended!

I have cooked chickens in Romertopf clay baker over 30 years, and my mother cooked chickens in her clay baker. I love chicken cooked this way; it stays moist and flavorful. The only reason I had to buy a new one was my own carelessness in leaving the cooling chicken within reach of our basset hound, who brought the dish crashing down on the floor. (They are clay after all.) I have also used my clay baker for baking apples, mussels, small roasts (I have a small size baker).Customer Review: Clay cooker

I heard about clay cookers from Southern Cooking cookbook. I tried one, this 3 qt. size. I liked the results so much, I bought three more in different sizes. Easy to use, wonderful meals in one pot. I have used one of these clay pots for 25 years and it does a fantastic job of roasting a pork roast or stew; meat stays moist and is always done to perfection.
