Customer Review: Clay Baker or Rotisserie?

This baker arrived on time and in great condition. I expect it will do what clay bakers do and am therefore giving it a 5-star rating although I haven't yet used it. I bought it because I wanted an easy way to bake chicken at home so that buying the precooked store ones wasn't necessary. I've known people who cook with clay bakers and rave about the juciness of the meat. I'm sure I'll like whatever is cooked in this; however, I will share with those of you who haven't researched rotisserie's yet, that it does look like the rotisserie would drain off more fat and be a healthier way of cooking--provided one doesn't eat the skin, of course. I also note that many clay baker recipes for chicken require wine, like sherry, and that leads me to think the meat alone may not be as tasty as from a rotisserie.Customer Review: Really, really small

Clay pots are great for chicken but this one would not hold a chicken. This is the size of a bread pan and I'm going to use it for that because they say bread baked in a clay pot is wonderful. I already have a clay pot for chicken but I wanted a smaller one but this one is really too small to cook a chicken in, unless your were just doing pieces of chicken. The actual bottom is only 4 1/2 inches wide by 8 inches long. It does have flared sides though, and that's why the measurements are listed as being bigger.
I will update this when I bake bread in it, because I think it will do bread well.

This clay cooker makes the BEST chicken I have ever tasted.. bar none. And it does not require any checking until just before its finished - which is right up my alley. I'm not a great cook and when I bake in clay I get compliments every time. I like to add onion, potato, lots of lemon (without rind) and lots of garlic with chicken stock or wine. Take your favorite recipe and use the clay cooker. It will improve it!!Customer Review: If you really want a clay pot cooker this is the one to get

Cooker works just fine but discolors badly since none of the pot is glazed (although I understand that glazing, at least in part, defeats the purpose of using a clay pot to begin with). We've cooked several dishes in the clay pot and cannot detect any taste advantage in using this pot. So, after a short time it went to limbo - where unused household items go to spend eternity.Customer Review: Fantastic Meals for the last 15 years

I love my clay cooker! So easy to use, and after your meal is in the oven, there's really nothing more to do until it's ready. Absolutely the best cooker for chicken, although, a huge roaster may not fit. I buy a fryer chicken and before cooking, I line the cooker with a piece of parchment paper and that makes the cleanup so much easier.
