Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of ReLight Rechargeable Book LightCustomer Review: Two years and still working great! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased a two-pack of these book lights more than two years ago at Costco. First, let me say they hold a charge forever. I read every night, and recharge my light maybe once a week. Even a quick ten minutes on the charging stand will give me an evening or two of reading.
They've served as nightlights for the kids, emergency light when the power goes out (always by the bedstand), a handy car light for the kids when we're travelling. I'm an avid reader, and went through book lights, and batteries, like crazy over the years. These have been on vacation with us plenty of times, and one is lost. The other is still going strong, holding a charge for days, like new. But my son misplaced it, so I was browsing online to see if these were still available.
I would highly recommend this item based on my experience. I have never had such durability, value, and long-lasting light from a booklight, period.
Customer Review: Just finished another book with it. Summary: 5 Stars
The best thing you can say about a reading light is that you forget it's there.
I forget it's there.
The array of smaller LEDs produces even lighting across two full pages, and doesn't shine in my eyes. So there's no reason to constantly adjust it. The clip doesn't seem like much, but it stays in place. It's lightweight, and reasonably compact. It packs flat, so I've taken it on vacation without the charger, and even then didn't manage to run the battery down. When on the charger it works as a mini-lamp. I've also used it as a flashlight during power outages.
For a minute I couldn't find it listed on Amazon, and thought it might have been discontinued. I'm glad to see it's still available, and will probably buy a second as a backup now, just in case.
Customer Review: Seems okay to me Summary: 4 Stars
This light seems to function as described. I have had no issues with flickering as some people have reported, so maybe they have corrected that problem. The light charges quickly and lasts a long time per charge. It is very bright, completely ample for reading in the dark, and then some. If you are tired of replacing batteries, or perhaps trying to find odd sized batteries that some lights use, this is the way to go.
The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the way the light goes into the charger. If you just toss it in there without paying attention, it could be not charging. This is only a minor detail. Just make sure it is charging before you walk away. Not a big deal, but the manufacturer could resolve this easily I think.
Customer Review: Good source of light but the clip is not so good Summary: 4 Stars
I've been using this book light for a few months now for night reading. It has 2 light settings. It has a nice compact fold and neat look to it. The rechargeable base has been the most beneficial to me as I tend to fall asleep only to wake up hours later resulting in a waste of battery life. The clip could use some major improvement. Think of it being like a big plastic paperclip and that is what you get on this light. It will only clip to a paperback cover or a small grouping of pages. It will slide onto the Kindle book cover but when I do that, I feel like I'm going to break it as it stretches the plastic a bit. I usually just lay the light down and point it to the pages so this doesn't really affect me too much.
Customer Review: Rechargeable and works with the Kindle! :) Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to use with my Kindle and it works great!
The lights are in a semicircle, so it illuminates a large area, either the whole Kindle or both pages of my book. Because it is rechargeable there's no cord and it is extremely lightweight and slender.
I don't know what the negative reviews on the clip are all about. It slides right onto the Kindle cover and fits great on my books, paperback and hardcover.
All in all, I LOVE this book light. I've tried a lot of them and don't see ever going back.
It is more than the other book lights, but think of the money you save in batteries. And Lets face it, being tied to the wall with a cord can be a pain, not to mention inconvenient.
