Customer Review: Man and Wife Assembled Furniture without an Argument!

Excellent sturdy bed, great value. We did not want to spend much on a bed for our temporary apartment, and we are pleasantly surprised in the quality. We have so much confidence in the quality of the bed that we plan on taking the bed apart and putting it back together when we get into our permanent home.
My husband and I purchased this bed because we moved into an apartment where we could not get our box-spring up our awkwardly turning stairs. After spending too much time with the mattress on the floor like college students, we finally selected this platform bed. We have never put together furniture as a team without arguing and becoming very frustrated until now.
All the pieces fit together easily and perfectly. All of the metal fittings were of a quality I have not seen in DIY furniture before. The screws were NOT stripped by the time they were in all the way, the bolts attached easily into metal fittings with the provided wrench. The instructions were quite clear until the last step, attaching the headboard. We followed the directions, securing the headboard end last. Instead of using the short bolts the instructions suggest, we lined up head board with the same holes on the end-piece and put the long bolts that came with the headboard through both the end-piece and the headboard. It was easier than it sounds. The only tools we used that were not included were flat and phillips head screwdrivers. The wood is very smooth, but I would recommend a little sanding if you want a perfect stain or paint job.
Our bed does look slightly different than the picture. The picture may be showing a futon mattress. We have a standard thickness memory foam mattress and only 8" of the headboard shows above the mattress. The wood has some very sparse grains of color that are natural and beautiful to us, but if you are expecting the pristine coloration in the picture you may be taking a chance.

Our Charleston Platform Bed frame is made of solid unfinished poplar hardwood. The wood has been kiln dried and planed on 4 sides to be smooth to the touch. The wood takes stain or paint exceptionally well but most of our customers elect to leave it as is and enjoy the beauty of natural wood. Matching wood headboard included.
