I've used Pyrex casserole dishes in the 1 and the 2 quart size with glass lids for years. My mother used them before me and I'll bet that if they were around, my grandmother would have used them. At one time you could even get an insulated case to carry them to potlucks, which are now a happy alternative way to thow a party and not burden the host with so much expense. Very smart on so many levels! For some reason, I seem to have believed that I could get along without them now that I only cook for one or two. So, I gave mine away to a friend. Now that we are all feeling the ecconomic crunch and wanting to live "greener" at the same time, these are invaluable. They are light, go from freezer to oven or Microwave to table and can have leftovers stored in them in the fridge. You can prepare more at a time and divide it up to freeze for later, saving energy and time. In short, why did I ever give mine away? Because I had read a cautionary statement on the internet regarding these products. The older version didn't have the issue and mine were older but I wasn't sure at the time. Foolish me. Now I have to hunt for mine all over again.
