Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Pyrex Prepware 2-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red MeasurementsCustomer Review: Great Size for Measuring Summary: 5 Stars
I love this measuring cup. It's a great size for a variety of measuring and microwaving.
Glass Pyrex measuring cups and bowls are perfect to measure your ingredients in and then just pop right in the microwave to heat up. The open handle is great to hold onto and also great to grab while removing hot ingredients out of the microwave. The handle doesn't get hot in the microwave. I have the 1 cup, 2 cup, 4 cup and the 8 cup measuring cups in Pyrex. They are great. I love the durable glass instead of plastic, so no worries about bacteria, odors or chemicals. They are also made in the USA.
Highly recommend. This size is the most convenient for measuring liquid ingredients. The markings are for every quarter cup and 1/3 cup up to 2 cups and are clearly marked and easy to read.
Customer Review: Great Measuring Cup Summary: 4 Stars
I love how this measuring cup is made out of glass (unlike my other one, which was made out of plastic). Now I could put oil and other solutions without hesitation.
The only thing that got my attention was the sticker label on the measuring cup clearly said "microwave and dishwasher safe". Really? Is this a joke? Lots of people complained about this measuring cup EXPLODING in their microwaves! It's true that the material used in these measuring cups aren't the same as the ones used decades ago. I guess a way to prevent "EXPOSiONs" is to not put blazing hot liquids right after you used really cold ones. Or better yet just not microwave the thing at all! That simple guys.
Customer Review: Now Scared to Use Summary: 1 Stars
This is no longer the product our mothers used. The company no longer uses the same material that they used to, so changes in temperatures may result in shards or the item exploding in your micro. I still have one from my mother, when it was purchased in the 70s. I use it all the time to boil water in the micro. Now I am hesitant to use this new one at all in the micro. Please be careful and make sure that if you micro something in it, bring to room temperature first, and *hopefully* that will be good enough. Watch the kids around this product. Yes, it is still made in the US, but have you noticed that it is harder and harder to find quality products for any price, anywhere?
Customer Review: "Measures Up" better than original Summary: 5 Stars
When my wife accidentally broke her old Pyrex 2-Cup measuring cup which she's had for at least the 18 years we've been married, she was quite unhappy and started using some cheap plastic measuring cups we had around to get by. Since she's the greatest cook I know and I'm more-than-happy to be the hungry husband, I then figured I could earn some quick spousal points by replacing that broken measuring cup with another one just like it. WELL ... to my and especially her great surprise, this new exact replacement was better marked and thus easier to read and had an extremely cool light-green hue to it!!! It was truly better than the original it replaced!!!
Customer Review: I have 2 Summary: 5 Stars
I use my glass measuring cups all the time, not only for liquid measuring but also on the stove top in a pan of water to melt wax for lip balms. I also cook rice in the microwave with it and use it occasionally to steam veggies in the microwave. Since it's glass it's extremely easy to clean. If you're measuring something sticky I recommend hitting it with some non-stick cooking spray, but that's true anytime you're measuring things like molasses or honey.
Echoing the other reviewers, it is 2 cups with clear markings, it's durable and microwave safe. You can't ask much more from a measuring cup. The lip works perfectly well in my applications.
