I bought two sets of four bowls to complement my nice set of everyday dishes for times when you want just a little bit of something---like a little yogurt, or some granola, some fresh raspberries---and we use them all the time. I agree with a previous reviewer that they would be wonderful for food prep.
They are not thin, as a previous reviewer has noted. They are not thick or bulky either, though, just perfect. They seem like they will last a long time and wear quite well. They almost look, well...elegant, which seems kind of cool for just Pyrex and for the price.
The bowls come well-packaged, and although the price is very low, they definitely don't seem cheaply made. I haven't seen them in stores, either. Great buy!

for those of you who have used these forever, even tho they are the same size, even tho they have the same little rings around them, even tho they have the same subtle fluting at the top, they've CHANGED these cups. They are now of thicker glass, and the body is a little wider. Why? I have no idea. They're still great, and I love the ones I got, but be aware, if it looks in the picture like the rim is thicker than you remember, that's because it is.
If you're a fanatic about everything matching, you're going to have to hit thrift-stores. I _think_ I like the new version better. Use them every day over and over. Wonderful little bowls.

I have these but my only drawback is that they don't come with covers. I've made puddings, desserts or whatever and then you have to use saran to cover them and it's not easy trying to put a small piece of saran wrap on it without covering the whole dish, as they are small dishes. Not a total bad thing but covers would make these a 5 stars for me. They are perfect for small leftovers, using for prep food meals, or for little kids to put snacks in. They are not heavy as I agree with the previous reviewer. They are good quality but again....needs covers.Customer Review: Myriad of uses

These little custard cups are fantastic kitchen helpers. They're just big enough to hold spices for cooking, flour for making a rue, butter for melting in the microwave, etc. I also use them to store small leftover amounts of sauces or salad dressing in the fridge. Although they don't come with lids, plastic wrap adheres very well to glass and the wrap is even strong enough that you can stack these cups on top of eachother without tearing the seal. Defintitely buy at least two sets of these custard cups. I always find myself needing more of them!Customer Review: Prepped and ready to go!

Mise en place is the French term for having all your ingredients prepped and ready to go before starting you start cooking. This technique is so important for proper cooking and these dishes really help you break that old habit of cooking and prepping at the same time. I use them to pre-measure all my spices, juices, liquids, etc. so that I don't have to be rushing around the kitchen as things are burning wishing that I had everything ready.
Of course, if you just want them to make serve pudding, they're the perfect size for that too!
