I am trying to move away from using plastic so I bought this set; I guess I missed the $9.99 sale other reviewers mention ~ mine was $16.99. I didn't pay super-close attention to the product description but I was suprised at how small the containers are. The description mentions you can bake in these......bake what? One potato, maybe. Certainly not brownies, cornbread, casseroles, etc. These will be good for leftovers & reheating but not much else. Also, the lids on the two smaller bowls are very difficult to put on & remove. Very tight. Overall, not a bad deal but not exactly what I expected. For actual cooking, I still can't beat the Pampered Chef batter bowls with the handle and a lid. Pampered Chef goods are pretty expensive but those bowls are fabulous.Customer Review: Great product, great service from Pyrex and Amazon

I had been eyeing these for awhile, so I was very excited wby Amazon's price. They are terrific! My husband stores soup in them, and its easy to microwave it, which makes me feel better than nuking plastic. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because we haven't dropped one yet. I'm curious how sturdy they are; they certainly feel sturdy.
When they arrived, one was broken in the box. I loved how simple it was to leave packaging feedback with Amazon, so hopefully, they'll use more padding next time. Also, I emailed Pyrex, parent company is World Kitchens, to tell them that one of the 5 broke on arrival, and I would be happy to email them photos. They didn't ask for photos, just sent me a new one no questions asked. Very good customer service.

These are what I use to store food in instead of plastic. And then I often heat up food in the same dish by setting the dish in a pan with a little water and then bringing the water to a boil with the pan lid on. It is as fast as a microwave and I like the food better than when it comes out of a microwave.
I wouldn't put soup in these and turn them upside down but the lids do seem to keep a very tight fit. I often take food with sauce in an insulated shoulder bag where it ends up on its side and I don't have a problem with leaks. I do, however, always have paper towels in the bottom of the bag just in case.
Without the lids they are almost elegant to eat out of.
This particular set has sizes that work well for single portions.

I bought these containers for one reason...plastic containers smell. They absorb colors and odors and over time, this becomes both ugly and unpalatable. They also are prone to melting and warping, both in the microwave and in the dishwasher. Glass seemed to be a natural solution to these problems, so we bought this set.
The Pyrex containers are great for solid food. Tomato-based pastas don't stain; garlickly foods don't leave an awful residual smell; and since glass is a better heat conductor, they're more optimal in the microwave than plastic. Heed the other reviewers' warnings regarding liquid storage; the lids are probably the weakest point. For liquid, we use Nalgene containers, which never, ever leak (backpackers use them religiously).

PRO:
This product is great. You get all of the desirable qualities of glass storage with the convince of appropriately sized containers with lids. If you look at the photo you'll have a very clear idea of what your are buying.
CON:
The downside I've found is that the lids get very brittle when cold. Given that these are for food storage this is a major concern. About a week after getting mine I cracked a lid taking it off a cold container. I've started letting them stand on the counter before removing the lid or doing so very carefully. I'm only taking off one star because I haven't had any additional problems / solving the problem hasn't been a major inconvenience.
Bottom Line: Recommended for the careful cook.
