Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Pyrex 6021224 Storage 10-Piece Set, Clear with Blue LidsCustomer Review: No more leftovers in re-used margarine containers! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second set of Pyrex storage containers that we bought. They are wonderful for several reasons:
1) You can actually SEE YOUR FOOD in the refrigerator. Meaning, it gets eaten instead of thrown out on Sunday night (garbage night in these parts.)
2) The LIDS FIT CORRECTLY and show no signs of warping or cracking like a lot of other storage units.
3) The SIZES ARE PERFECT for nearly everything...leftover sauces to a spare pork chop or three, everything fits into one of these.
4) GOOD DESIGN - since the bowls aren't rounded out (like, say, mixing bowls) you can fit quite a bit in these without taking up too much real estate in the fridge.
5) PRICE - sure, they're not as cheap as a leftover margarine container, but we got them via a Gold Box special and they're a good value for the money.
Get some for yourself, or as a wedding/housewarming present. We're sending some with our son when he goes to college in the fall.
Customer Review: Stacking & storing containers Summary: 4 Stars
I love these containers, I have several of the round sets & use them for EVERYTHING, freezing & baking included. They really are much better than plastic. The only complaint that I have is that the bottoms of the containers aren't really rounded enough to fit inside one another for compact storage. I have found that when I stack same-size pieces together, they get stuck & have to be carefully pulled apart. I have chipped the lids of several pieces doing this. It is surprising that the manufacturer hasn't considered this, though the flat bottom does make for better bakeware. I now prefer to stack the smallest container inside the next larger size, and so on, then to stack these sets of three on top of one another, keeping the lids in a separate stack. This prevents the pieces from getting stuck together and having to be pried apart. I also think this method takes less space in the cabinet anyway.
Customer Review: inconsistent lids or glassware Summary: 3 Stars
After reading the various reviews about lids that are too tight or loose and testing my own set for liquid leakage, my conclusion is that there must be quality control issues ensuring proper fit.
FYI, I don't have any issues about getting the lids on or off. In addition to my own set, I bought another set for my mom as a gift, and she couldn't get the lids on to the smaller bowls (2 & 3 1/2 cups). In my set, the 6-cup rectangular has a loose fitting lid and leaks like a sieve (otherwise, the other bowls are water-tight).
While these are cheaper than the Glasslock, the Glasslock lids has a snapping mechanism that's easier to use. They also have a silicone gasket in the lid that ensure air-tightness and prevent leakage. If price is not an issue, I recommend those instead.
Customer Review: Pyrex Storage Sets Summary: 5 Stars
I have recieved a Pyrex Storage Set as a gift. This product I would highly recommend. I have used mine on an almost constant basis without any damage to them, which is quite amazing considering I am rather clumsy with dishes and have two little kids! The product is very durable and can be used by anyone. I have even used them in the microwave and oven without any negative results. The only downside is I can not use the lids in the microwave or oven, but this is only a minor nusiance compared to some other plastic containers I have used which even though claimed to be microwave safe still melted.
I would highly recommend this product for anyone that is on the go and needs a high quality storage product. Like I said earlier I got this product as a gift and have not had to replace any of it in over three years that I have had this one. Excellent product and very easy to use!
Customer Review: dangerous product Summary: 1 Stars
Hello. I've had three bad experiences in this year alone with Pyrex products and I now will be getting rid of the rest of my Pyrex and never buying any more Pyrex. It is dangerous. Twice I have had pieces explode while taking out of the oven...and I mean explode. The glass cut my hand and foot. We also had a piece drop and it doesn't just break...but it shatters and flies everywhere. I mean, pieces end up in other rooms besides the kitchen. It takes forever to clean this stuff up since it ends up in tiny shards and slivers and goes flying everywhere. Even after cleaning, I later got two slivers stuck in my foot. Now, I feel lucky and I keep thinking what if a child was in the room when this happened? What if the shards flew into someone's eyes? There is something very wrong with this product and many others have had similar problems. Please, put your safety first.
