We got this as part of the buy 3, get 1 free promo, plus this was on sale for $14.99 (Feb. 2008). My only regret was not buying more. High quality glass tupperware perfect for storing leftovers and eating in the next day!
This set comes with (2) 2-cup round, (1) 3-cup rectangle, (1) 3-cup round, & (1) 6-cup rectangle all w/ lids. All are multi-functional, fridge, freezer, microwave & oven safe.
Our original intent was just to replace plastic (w/ all the bad stuff about toxins that I've read about, I just wanted to play it safe). The multiple "fringe" benefits include: no more stains, easier to clean, no lingering odors, and it'll be longer lasting. We've had ours for about a week and are using them all. Extremely functional. I just bought more different sets and some individual pieces (all part of the buy 3, get 1 free) to complete our set.
Ordering tip: if you're going to buy a bunch, split them in separate orders and put all the lower priced items together so you can get (at least) one of the more expensive items for free. By doing so, I got one $18 item free, instead of two $3.99 items free. Of course, just make sure both shipments are more than $25 for free S&H. I just made sure I bought some other needed items that weren't part of the promo! These 4-for-3 deals are AWESOME, especially when combined w/ FREE S&H and no sales tax! Way to go Amazon!

I am basically in agreement with most of the positive review of these bowls. I use them all the time in the microwave. As a microwaveable we rarely overheat them, because we don't want to overheat our food. However, some care must be taken when they are heated in an conventional oven. They are not the Pyrex of yesteryear! The almost indestructible Pyrex Bakeware and Anchor Hocking Ovenware used to be made (25 years ago) from BOROSILICATE glass. These pans seem to last forever, I have the ones my mother used! Pyrex Bakeware and Anchor Hocking Ovenware are now both made from TEMPERED SODA-LIME glass similar to the old glass milk bottle. It is more easily scratched and can be more easily "thermal shocked" than borosilicate. It has been known to blow up after sudden temperature change, and because it is tempered, a scratch you may not notice can cause this susceptibility to breakage. See Snopes.com and Wikipedia.com for more information. I am not knocking the product for most uses or users, but people must be aware that it is not the same product. It has been changed and can be dangerous if used improperly. I think that the package now says
things about these dangers, but if "we think we already know" the product we probably won't read them!

And before I ordered .... I checked the description that states CLEARLY what size bowls I would receiving ... [2] 2-cup round, [1] 3-1/2-cup rectangular, [1] 4-cup round, & [1] 6-cup rectangular storage containers; [5] blue plastic lids. They're not huge but that's EXACTLY what I wanted to get away from those CHEAP Glad & Ziploc PLASTIC containers that I would to microwave in too! NOT SAFE. And these are more durable and PERFECTLY sized for small portions 2-6cups! And remember 2 cups = 16oz; 3.5 cups = 28 oz; 6 cups = 48oz! Not huge but they don't take up a lot of space either! My only disappointment is that anytime I make JELLO .. regardless if the lid is on, it always leaks a little! Maybe because the lid is a wee bit HARD to get on ... so the liquid shakes around before I tighten it! Not sure but it's irriting regardless. Oh and 2 weeks ago, this set was $13.49 and sold directly by AMAZON.COM and free ship on orders over $25. In fact, if this is being sold by Target $21.49 with $9.40 S&H, click on the MORE buying choices (the NEW & USED area) in this listing to get the AMAZON price $14.99 and free ship! For those non-Americans, pardon my patriotism, but to me it's nice to see a quality product that is actually made in the USA. It seems as we've farmed much of our manufacturing out to other countries so that we can instead buy non-U.S. goods on our credit cards.
Obviously, I'm editorializing a bit, so onto the review at hand. This Pyrex is a quality food storage set that should last you a good many years. As you likely know, the glass used in the Pyrex line does not generally stain or retain food odors. Cleanup is quite easy and the price is easy on the wallet as well. Most of the pieces will nest inside of the other, so this is a plus as it does no take up too much shelve space in your kitchen.
The only negative that I could come up with is that the glass does conduct heat and can get quite warm or hot when you are cooking and this includes cooking in the microwave. So use a towel or potholder when handling Pyrex after cooking so that you don't burn yourself.
The bottom line is that this is a classic, quality product that is well-priced. It comes highly recommended.
Customer Review: I won't be buying any more CorningWare, Corelle or Pyrex items

When I bought these I felt they would be useful.
But I won't be using them for baking and I won't be buying any more. No more Corelle, no more CorningWare, no more Pyrex. No more Anchoring Hocking, either, for that matter.
I am not usually militant about a product--I normally feel of course companies will try to make the most money they can and consumers should try to do their homework and make good choices.
But I am highly upset that the company has not addressed a very widespread problem with their products exploding when heated. Some people have experienced injuries, yet somehow, the company has gotten away with not recalling any products. They have simply added to their warning label in an attempt to cover themselves.
For this reason, I won't be buying any more from a company that is willing to take the customers' money but doesn't seem to care at all that they are selling a dangerous product.
