Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Ps Cordless KettleCustomer Review: Just fine Summary: 5 Stars
I had read the reviews about the problem with the plastic smell. I boiled some water, emptied and left open on the counter for several days and have had no problem with a continuing plastic smell. Some others were concerned with the build up of calcium. I have had no more problems with this kettle than the previous Proctor Silex kettle that I used for years (only replaced it for the color). The directions tell you to empty the kettle after every use. Now, I don't do that but I do empty totally at least once a week and clean out any floating calcium. I also used bottled water.
All and all a fine kettle.
Customer Review: STILL 5 stars after more than a year of use! Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned this exact kettle for over a year and I use it frequently, as in, multiple times a week. I love the auto-shut-off feature. I love the high capacity, so I can make enough water for my small 3 cup teapot or for a number of girlfriends. The water has NEVER has a funny taste or smell. I do use a vinegar/water mixture to clean it regularly and before I used it the first time. Perhaps that is the key to the taste that other reviewers have referred to.
No leaks, no sloshing water, not one negative!
Customer Review: inexpensive, but poor quality Summary: 2 Stars
After several months of use, there is still a scent of hot plastic from it when used to heat water. I think it leeches into the water too, at least giving it a bit of a plastic odor.
The other problem I have with it is doesn't automatically switch off when you life the kettle from its cradle. This is a problem because if you empty the kettle and put it back on its cradle, you'll have a problem.
I would avoid this product. Pay a little more and get a metal one if you can.
Customer Review: This kettle is the pits Summary: 1 Stars
I hate this kettle. It scaled up in about two minutes, I quickly got in the habit of not drinking the whole cup to avoid a mouthful of white flakes. Water comes pouring out of the lid, my counter was constantly swimming in water. It needs about 4 cups of water to get the minimum and takes FOREVER to boil. Frankly I don't even want to donate it, it's so horrible.
Customer Review: kettle Summary: 3 Stars
It's cheap. Works OK but it smells like burned wire or some kind of fresh paint. If water stays in it for a while you wouldn't be able to drink it because of smell. You have to put fresh whater each time you want some tea. I'm going to buy another one. Not so cheap but not smelly. I had T-FAL kettle before and it didn't have this problem.
