I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking to quickly and easily steam food for one.
It is quick and easy to use, easy to clean up. As others have pointed out, the directions are less than specific; but they give you a starting point. I put enough water in to just cover the whole bottom (it is convex, so it is probably a few tablespoons). Their suggested time works pretty well, but tweaking it slightly may give you better results (altitude, humidity, and personal preference).

This steamer was just what I was seeking for preparing steamed vegetables at work. I was juryrigging a microwave steamer with a ceramic bowl and plate--not a convenient solution. This mini-steamer was the perfect anecdote! It works great for a single serving of fresh veggies. It comes with a little chart that tells you how many minutes to cook different types of veggies. I am happy to say that it performs great, tried it today with frozen Spinach. No complaints. I know its a "mini" steamer, but I think I want to get one that has a larger capacity.
The only issue I had was that the basket came cracked around the top edge, since this product is only $7.29 and had free shipping, it is not worth my time to send it back. It still works fine, but somewhere in the manufacturing/handling process it got cracked.

I am happy with the product and it performs well. Follow the included "Key to successful microwave cooking" tip sheet plus a little trial and error will have you satisfied with your steamed veggies in no time!
One small issue is the strainer cracked, I do not know if it was the dishwasher (I do not use heated drying) or if it cracked during microwaving. This does not take away from the functionality so I took off 1 star.

I bought this mini steamer for my 8 month old that refuses purees. Being a single portion steamer, it's perfect for steaming anything from apples to green beans for the little guy instead of having to take out my big pot and steamer insert. I love this steamer! The only reason I gave it four stars is because I feel as though you need to add a bit more water than the instructions suggest but other than that, it's perfect.
