Customer Review: good size, inexpensive, bubbles out

This is a great size for a meal for our family of 5, and was very cheap, so I'd say that we certainly got our money's worth out of this so far, but I have been having to keep an eye on it all the time to make sure it doesn't bubble out.
The crock and lid don't fit perfectly together creating a seal, so the liquid/steam inside "spit" out, and build up around the outside of the rim (rather than on the inside and running back down into the pot). It seems that the pressure of the heat build up inside the pot makes it hard for the liquid to go back into the pot so it stays on the outer edge, sometimes filling up so full that the rim literally boils over even though the inside contents are well below the rim level!! If I'm not home to keep an eye on the crock pot and move the lid around manually to release some of that water back into the pot I would probably have a big mess.
I have tried to put a small piece of onion or aluminum foil on the rim (held in place by the lid) that drapes down into the pot and sometimes that works to lead the liquid back down inside, but if the contents are really bubbling away it doesn't seem to be helping.
So, if you are willing to watch the pot then I'd say this is a good choice. Otherwise, find a pot with a lid that has a better rim that encourages the liquid back down inside.
