Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of ProAccurate ThermometerCustomer Review: Finally a reliable thermometer Summary: 5 Stars
I worked in a restaurant kitchen for over four years while going to school. When I left the job, I left with newly acquired love and passion for cooking ....... unfortunately the professional grade equipment couldn't come with me. I've gone through atleast 5 thermometers in the past couple of years, all of which I purchased at large retail chains for $10-$15. None of them even compare to this CDN model.
It is fast - I would say about 2-3 second average.
It is sturdy and well built.
It is water proof - huge plus for cleaning and dropping off in sink.
Best one I've ever owned.
Customer Review: You say temp read, I say Godsend! Summary: 4 Stars
Wow, who knew it was so hard to decide on a thermometer?! After ruining one too many pieces of perfectly good meat, I decided it was time to kick my old school, flaky, caveman times thermometer to the curb and upgrade to one that works... and works well. This is the unit that fit that bill. It's flawless so far and sooo fast. I've used it on chicken, beef, pork and while I haven't given it the old bbq grill test yet, I have a good feeling that it will work wonders in that arena as well (hence only 4 stars as opposed to 5). Definitely recommend going with this unit. It's affordable and dependable. Win-win.
Customer Review: Just about instant, most of the time Summary: 4 Stars
I had my heart set on the Thermapen instant thermometer, but seeing as how that is nearly $100 and I am not a professional chef, I started the search for a more affordable instant-read thermometer. This one is fantastic for the price. It truly is instant (within three seconds) most of the time. Sometimes when I'm cooking a whole chicken and I stick the thermometer in it will take about 10 seconds, which, yes, is a long time, but that happens rarely. Clean-up is easy, and it comes with a neat little sheath to keep it clean in the drawer. Overall, I love it!
Customer Review: Not the thermometer that Cooks Illustrated reviewed Summary: 3 Stars
This is NOT the thermometer (DTQ350) that "Cooks Illustrated" recommended. They recommended the DTQ450 as 'highly recommended' with the Thermapen 211-476 in first place but at $85 versus the $18 for the DTQ450.
CDN has 3 thermometers in the ratings but only the dtq450 is highly recommended. The q2-450, dtc375 are not highly recommended because they take too long to respond or stems that are too short... but still recommended... just not highly.

Customer Review: Should Have Bought It Sooner! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my first digital thermometer. I wish I'd bought it earlier. It takes so much uncertainty out of trying to read the old non-digital types.
It's improved my cooking since I have a fear of not cooking meat long enough. I had a delicious boneless chicken breast tonight because I checked the temp before the recommended time was up. If I'd cooked it as long as I was supposed to it would have been dry.
I look forward to enjoying my food more since it will be so easy to tell if it's been cooked to a safe temperature.
