I saw Chef John (on foodwishes dot com) using stainless steel bowls all the time. The more I watched him use them, the more I wanted them. Then I realized how expensive they were!
He probably uses a good ones, for professional chefs. I'm just an amateur cook who just wanted a shallow metal bowl. I went to Walmart and but they only had a deep stainless bowl that didn't look that good for almost 10 dollars. I even went to Bed bath and beyond...they only had deep ones. And they were like 20 for one! I wanted SHALLOW ones!
Then I saw this set. 14.99 for a set of 5! Since I belong to Amazon prime, shipping was free.
I can tell this isn't the high quality stainless... probably 18/0 ...but it was strong enough to do my bread dough mixing and meatball mixing..no dents yet. I love them all. Having different sizes makes a huge difference.
There are places where I don't want to compromise in quality, this is one place where I compromised and am fine with it.
