Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Prime Pacific Stainless Steel Pasta MachineCustomer Review: good product for the value Summary: 4 Stars
I was skeptical for a pasta machine at this price and read all the review on Amazon. I decided some of the complaints might be valid, while others sound like some customers just didn't get the dough right to begin with, or didn't know that you have to separate or hang pasta dry regardless what machine you use.
Anyway, I think at this price it's worth a try and ordered it. It arrived really fast and the heavy gauge stainless steel worth the 20 dollar. I didn't have any problem with the roller and the two cut settings. It is really easy to use even that I am not a seasoned pasta chef. I haven't used it enough to break it, so I don't know the durability of this machine. If it stays the way it's working now, it's great. I didn't rate it five because the handle do have a tendency of being pulled off during rolling because it is only inserted, althoug it isn't a big deal. A locking mechanism would be helpful.
Customer Review: Works well for light-duty use. Summary: 4 Stars
This machine works well for someone making an occasional batch of fresh pasta (like me). Those who are complaining about stuck dough - your dough is too wet. Knead more flour into the dough. When the dough is no longer sticky-to-the-touch, roll it through the machine. It will work like a charm.
While this machine does it's job well-enough, you may want to upgrade to a more expensive model if you make your own pasta often.
By the way, never wash this, or any pasta machine, with water. Don't worry - the bits of old pasta will flake right off when they dry up. And don't worry about germs - you will be cooking the pasta in boiling water!
I haven't had this machine long enough to tell you if it will go the distance, but it seems reasonably well-made for the price. Not super-sturdy, but good-enough for occasional use.
Customer Review: Not a bad deal for the price. Summary: 4 Stars
Be sure to clean this properly before using. I don't think that I did clean it all the way, and the first few pasta strips I sent through had black smudges on them. Also unless you dry it completely, vs. air drying, it will get rust spots on it. It is a little bit of a chore to clean. I tried running paper towel through the rollers and that worked fairly well in drying it and cleaning it out. It did shred the paper towel when going through the fettucini and spaghetti part, but that was to be expected and it got the job done. I would imagine any pasta maker would be equally difficult to clean because of all the hard-to-reach spaces, so I don't blame this brand for that.
Other than that, it rolls pasta perfectly. I love that it does fettucini and thin spaghetti. It also rolls the dough out flat enought to make perfect ravioli.
Customer Review: It's been great for 3 years for making Chinese noodles Summary: 5 Stars
I make Chinese noodles every week and and it has been working fine since I bought it 3 years ago. People who broke this machine don't know how to use it. I added some oil into the flour to make the work easier.
The following recipe is what I made for my mother-in-law and she loves it. It's usually very hard to make her happy.
***** Son-in-law Noodles Recipe *****
2 cups bread flour or all purpose
2/3 + 1tbsb water
1 1/4 tsb canola oil
1/2 tsb sea salt
1. run them for 10 - 20 minutes in bread maker with dough setting
2. Add some flour when make noodles in the pasta machine.
3. boil them immediately
4. cold them down in cold water and drain
5. add Chinese noodle sauce and enjoy
Customer Review: fraustrating to use--handle keeps falling off & pasta sticks together Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this when it was on sale for $10.99, the price was great but the product is so inferior it was not even worth that. I decided to return it because it was fraustrating to use. First the handle kept falling off as I tried to roll dough through the machine. Second, the noodles that come out were not seperated enough to be individual noodles. It was more like a sheet of dough with some lines on them. I thought maybe it was because my dough was too soft, so I added more flour, it did not help either, my pastas still come out stuck together.
I purchase stuff frequetly from amazon, and never had to return anything. This is the first time, and it was easy. The shipping back to amazon is free, and I got credit right away.
