What a great tool. I've tried sharpening using a steel, and I find I don't have the talent to do it well. I've bought other sharpeners, like the Mouse magnet and the ones on the backs of can openers, but this sharpener is the best of them all.
I've got quite a few knives of varying quality (faberware cheapies, and some german not-so-cheapies) and this tool did them all great justice. It even works well on serrated steak knives, you just need to sharpen one side of the knife (one side usually doesn't have the serration marks).
Highly recommend to spruce up your dated knife collection, although I would probably be worried about using it constantly on expensive knives, as it tends to wear down the metal a bit faster than sharpening by hand.

After reading through some dismal reviews about the quality of the motor on the Presto Pro EverSharp I was a little bit leery of purchasing this item but I wasn't prepared to pay for a more expensive model. While I experienced the motor stall "issue" it really is because these people aren't using the product correctly. The knife rests right in the slots no pressure is required, if you push down it will stall. After my first try the usage was pretty apparent and it performed well. I sharpened 10 knives in around 10 minutes and they went from completely dull to able to cut tomatoes with little effort.
Definitely worth the purchase if you need a sharpener for your lower quality knives and you don't want to spend a lot of money.

I was skeptical about buying this product because it was so much cheaper than other electric sharpeners. However, the reviews were right: this sharpener really does work! Furthermore, it is much easier to use and produces better results than any manual sharpener I have used.
I sharpened every knife in my house, even the serrated blades, with this Presto, and it worked on every one (be sure to read the instruction booklet before sharpening serrated blades). Some of my knives were very dull and had not been used in a while, so I had to run them through the sharpener a few times more than the instructions recommended, but now those old dull knives are razor sharp, too. It feels really good to find a product that works so well!

After reading countless reviews of every kind of knife sharpener i decided on this one for my dads birthday. For dinner that night we had ham and Lamb. All my dads knives were dull and had not been sharpened in years. So needless to say before we cut the meat we sharpened his knives. This took no time at all even though they had not been sharpened in so long. WOW what a difference. It sure is a lot safer cutting anything with a sharp knife than it is with a dull one. My brother in law who cut the meat was so impressed he is going to buy one and i am going to pick one up also. For the price vs peformance you can't beat it. This is one of those products that after you got it you wonder how you did without for so long.

I needed to sharpen a drawerful of dull knives, so bought this electric sharpener because of its low price and good reviews. On the plus side, it's very fast and easy to use - almost foolproof. It does sharpen very dull knives to a usable state without much effort. The downside... The first stage takes off quite a bit of metal. The second, "honing", stage actually finishes sharpening the knife rather than honing it. I was glad to have this sharpener because I'd neglected my knives for so long, this machine made quick work of sharpening so many knives. However, if I ever get behind in maintaining my knives again in the future (and I probably will), I will only use the 2nd stage for sharpening and use my steel for honing.
